Posted 17 April 2014 - 07:45 AM

Hi all,

Thought I'd bring you up to speed on what I've been doing this past couple of weeks. Been in contact with the eaby seller who sold me those Kellogg's MIMPs last summer. As you can imagine, I was glad to hear from him and that he was able to help me out with my LRG needs once again.

Well I'm delighted to say that I have the two I wanted for so long, plus more! Here's what I bought from him so far:

Attached File  Collection Pics 001.jpg   112.75K   89 downloadsAttached File  Collection Pics 002.jpg   232.87K   88 downloadsAttached File  Collection Pics 003.jpg   233.91K   59 downloads

First off were the 2 figures Cone and Conk which he asked a fiver each for, and then there's the complete original box which was fifteen quid. The comic ad he just threw in for free.

Secondly, the uncut strip of seven sealed figures (some doubles) all in each different colours was twenty quid. However, I wasn't sure about these at first as some were the same as what I already got. In the end, I decided to go for these because at least one packet contained a green boglin. Although before this, he did try and flog me a full set of 8 sealed figures in either green or orange for thirty five quid but I declined.

I'm so pleased with what I've got, I knew I'd have to share this with you lot. Hope this brings back more wonderful childhood memories! :D

Enjoy the pics,

Thanks Plasticfiend, will check that site out later.

Also the guy just got back to me this afternoon regarding a certain Kellogg's Rice Krispies promo. This being shortly after I thanked him for the boglins and saying that "P.E.T. Aliens" would possibly be my next venture. Sounds rather promising if you ask me! ;)

Will be selling the sealed boglin doubles I no longer need on ebay at some point if anyone's interested btw.

I would love to grab some of the extra's from you, also I would be interested in adding information and pictures from this to the Mini Boglin Collector Archive.

I have some sealed Pet Aliens. Not a clue what they're worth though. Any ideas?

Stronium Dog -

If you guys are looking for cereal premium prices... there is a section on cerealbits JUST for cereal premiums.  I'll admit though, it's not nearly as lively of a forum as LRG. SOmetimes you can post a question or something and go days without a response lol.  Kind of a drag.  But nice group when they do speak up.

Thanks plasticfiend, if I don't get a response here I'll certainly think of trying there.

I figure andy is probably the best person to ask, as he's currently in the market for sealed Pet Aliens.

Thanks for the feedback Aikola!

If you're interested in the ones I'll be selling I'm certainly open to offers. These are the ones I'm looking to get rid of:Attached File  Collection Pics 004.jpg   80.32K   9 downloads

First reason behind selling this lot is becuase I've now got three sculpts in exactly the same colours in that uncut strip of packets. Secondly I thought I'd try my luck at finding Cool and Crok in gold (still sealed if possible). Although I'm aware that will be both a mammoth task and very pricey at the same time.

Anyone have any idea what price I'd have to pay for such rarities?

Hi folks,

Just a brief update here. Decided to go ahead with listing the above six boglins on ebay as there's no insertion fees this bank holiday weekend. In case anyone want's to know exact contents of packets, these are:

Cool (Blue) Chill (Red) Chump (Pink) Clak (Yellow) Clot (Pink) Crok (Orange)

Whoever wants to add these little gems to their collection, feel free to bid away my friends! :p

Hey all,

Yet another update to bring you up to speed on how my cereal LRG collection's coming along. So here we go with the new pics:Attached File  My Collection Pics.jpg   111.15K   33 downloads

First off, the Pet Aliens full set complete with box I got back in late April/early May for £50. Secondly, I decided to go for Cool and Crok standard colours in the end for £5 each as seller didn't have these in Gold colour. He did have loose ones but they weren't the two I was after anyway. And finally, the larger 1kg Frosties box with cut-out swamp display area on the back for which I paid £15. Even he never knew this version of the box existed until around a fortnight ago!

Now I can gladly say I've got a total of 11 Cool Dudes along with all 8 Pet Aliens too. ^_^

Let me know yout thoughts folks,

"Ant"

Indeed it is CC, and those packets you see in the old pic above have since been opened and the back of the box has had the swamp display cut out of it.

I'll upload some new pics to show everyone later on at some point. Basically sold some and bought some again in the years since. Can never decide how to display all my stuff, rapidly running outta room! lol

Loving the oldskool cereal boxes though, another trip down memory lane.

Hey LRG friends, I'm back with an update on what I've been doing in the six years since first starting this thread. It's been a rather "on and off" journey so to speak, and since decided to broaden my horizons with my collecting and made me think outside the (cereal) box you could say! lol  :p

Anyway here's some pics I've taken earlier today:

Attached File  IMG_3357.JPG   45.48K   11 downloadsAttached File  IMG_3358.JPG   85.82K   12 downloadsAttached File  IMG_3359.JPG   140.47K   11 downloadsAttached File  IMG_3360.JPG   134.91K   12 downloadsAttached File  IMG_3363.JPG   118.25K   16 downloadsAttached File  IMG_3369.JPG   125.64K   28 downloads

The first pic shows my first lot of boglins I got from the guy who runs the cereal offers website. They're permanently displayed in their cardboard swamp scene. The second pic shows the latest lot I got from him a few months ago along with 1kg box, safe to say the box will remain intact and the figures are staying all wrapped up in their little baggies this time!  ;)

Pics four and five show both sides of a page torn out from a Beano comic advertising the mini-fig promo with Kellogg's. He gave me that in 2014 (sorry I didn't share that sooner!)

Now here's where things get interesting with pics five and six. This is an entire treasure trove of give-aways dating from 1989 - 1999 all purely relating to Frosties and nothing else. All are kept in the MIMP box and even decided to re-use an actual cereal bag to store them instead of some random boring container. I know a lot of this stuff isn't related to LRG's but I thought I'd show you nonetheless. Well, this is the miscellaneous section after all. So here goes, everything shown was bought from various sellers on eBay UK within the past year and is in chronological order from top to bottom:

Tony's Flyers - 1989

Tony's Joke Machine - 1989

Tony's Magic Tricks - 1990

Wildlife Transfer Kits - 1991

Sporting Tony Figures - 1991

Day-Glo Stickers - 1992

Monster In My Pocket - 1993

Mini Boglins - 1994

Thunderbirds Vehicles - 1994

Monster Wrestlers - 1995

Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers - 1995

Gladiators 3D Glasses - 1995

Euro 96 Virtual Video - 1996

Space Jam Trophies - 1997

Star Wars Episode 1 Statuettes - 1999

It's interesting to find out that some of these goodies weren't all exclusive to Frosties. The footie viewers, Looney Tunes trophies and Star Wars figures were available in many other cereals too. I think it's good to know they were so many more great free gifts out there other than MIMP and Boglins, and this is all within the UK and nowhere else. I'm glad to have this opportunity to share this with everyone whether you're an LRG fan or otherwise, die-hard collectors or newbies just beginning their quest into the world of collectables.

Let me know what y'all have to say anyways. Always appreciate your feedback on subjects like these, and please share if any of you have something similar!

Hey mate, cool update. The swamp display is pretty cool & super retro. Good to see you've got another intact with the box though. It's crazy how people actually kept the whole boxes after all these years.

The beano pull out is different, i would never have guessed they would have been advertised in there.

What made you sell your gold kellogs? Was it just a case of needing money at the time.

The MIMP Series2 Kelloggs, there the ones I remember.

I've still got all my load of my freebies that I accumulated as a kid in the loft similar to you ranging from the late 80's Tony the tiger stuff to the 1999 star wars but with some missing gaps in between.
I remember I collected the tazos too, the loony tunes ones from monster munch & star wars ones from Walkers. Then there was the Tetley Tea mini figure dudes lol & many more I have...
There not sealed though of course being a kid you had to open everything but ive kept for nostalgia purposes.

Thanks CC, yeah I seemed to have accumulated a fair amount of freebies in just over a year. In total I have 3 separate sets of Boglins Cool Dudes, a full loose set, a full sealed set, and a partially complete sealed set with one missing (those are kept with all the mixed stuff in the MIMP box).

Aye I ended up selling that gold one along with some others in standard colours. Dunno how much they sold for as it was a good while ago now but don't think it was a great amount. I suppose the extra money helped a little but not a great deal.

Regarding the actual MIMP promo, I'm surprised you only remember the series 2 figures and not the few series 1 that were also issued with this cereal. I know it's a vastly obscure selection believe me, I can't fathom it out either! lol  Personally I reckon they should've put Windigo, Winged Panther and Hunchback inside Honey Nut Loops with the other 8 first series figures. I literally only recall getting a Phantom figure in that promo, twice in the same colour! No Bigfoot or Harpy or any of the others. Must've enjoyed the taste of Frosties and Weeto's more I guess. Lamia and Drude tend to stick out in my mind whenever I think of Professor Weeto. Although I most likely got the odd glow-in-the-dark monster during that time. Ahh that sweet rubbery smell of those figures fresh outta their packet, those were the days wouldn't you agree?  :)

Pretty sure I had the full set of Thunderbirds too. I defo had numbers 2 and 4 because those came both together when you sent away for them. Seems strange they didn't include number 5 though isn't it.

Oh those Tetley Tea characters, haha! now that takes me back. I remember playing with the PG Tips chimps in their race cars at my Auntie's house as well as building Lego villages.

What else stands out in your mind regarding Kellogg's promotions then CC?

You are definitely the cereal promotions specialist.

Youve certainly got a really cool collection there with all the different things that you've recaptured from memories of back in the day. The MIMP & mini boglins did rule though for sure!

Did you keep any of the ones you had as a kid at all?

From all of my old toys I've probably broke/lost/sold 50% over the years & still kept 50%.

I don't remember the pg tips ones, my grandad only drank tetley so that's how I got those lol.

I can't think of any more off the top of my head i think you have most of the ones i remember. The other ones i think came from other things like tea & crisps but I'll have to dig out my freebies collection out of the loft & post it up on this thread for a bit of fun, something out of the ordinary may pop up.

Yeah cool find, but not all P.E.T. Aliens came free with Rice Crispies, only 8 were free with that promo, and some of those in your pic weren't included. And I too had one of the footie players from Sugar Puffs, Les Ferdinand it was. Also had the Looney Tunes characters from Weeto's, but didn't complete the set though.

I've got the Brooklands classic racing cars with Cornflakes. Didn't bother making the race track to go with them, wonder why......

My mum even made me a Tracy Island to go with my Thunderbirds models after watching an episode of Blue Peter. I think I helped apply some paint but hardly played with it afterwards as I wanted the real thing. Typical ungrateful brat I was! lol  :p

Ha ha!

Oh yeah I did notice from your cereal box about the pet aliens, not sure where the others would have come from. Probably Woolworths.

I've got quite a few of the sting ray figures too, were they mail away cereal promotions too? (similar to the thunderbirds)
