Welcome to another challenge! This time the featured figure line is Battlebeast/Lazerbeast, and the theme is animals that never got the battlebeast treatment. The run time is August and September, and all mediums are eligeble, including custom figures. With this challenge, I'm suggesting entrants call 'dibs' on the animals they plan on creating a bb of.

Only a week or so into this challenge and i think the "dibs" policy is starting to make me lose interest.
Is there a specific reason why two people doing the same animal would be problematic? I know Eric and i at least have done some similarly-themed entries in the past and it worked out fine.

I agree with Scum. I don't think there are any problems with two artists doing the same animal (so to speak). 
Also, what happens if one artist calls an animal then drops out of the contest? Another artist might have wanted to do that animal. I think the dibs thing just puts too many constraints on the contest.
That said, I don't care all that much, and I'll still enter this contest regardless.

I am with you guys on the dibbs thing. I was going to ignore it but I am still kind of new here and didn't want to piss anyone off. I actually sort of like the idea of different artistic perspectives on the same animals. Hell, I wouldn't mind if everyone did the SAME animal. Based on the amount of talented people on this forum I promise you they would all still be wildly different.
That being said, if anyone takes a shine to the creatures I have picked, run with it and have fun.

i wasn't so much calling dibs on the animal so much as the stupid name for the character i came up with. if anyone wants to do an aye-aye, be my guest.

The 'dibs' thing was just an impulse, reacting off of looking back through several challenges and seeing people say things like "oh, I was going to do that one, but I might start something else". It wasn't a policy, and you can enter whaterver animal(s) you choose, with or without 'dibbing' them. This whole challenge process isn't near as organized as you may assume...
