Mixer Taitei is probably one of the most infamous figures Romando produced - He's seen as a must have for many collectors of the line and commands a pretty high price on the secondhand market despite arguably being the cheapest, flimsiest thing Romando made when they had the Kinnikuman license.
I personally love the figure as a display piece but I find it hard to wrap my head around how much I paid for a figure that is literally made of the same material as the package he shipped in
Anyway, this figure interests me for another reason:
AFAIK, he is the only Throne Scramble team member Romando produced from the original Kinnikuman series' final arc that was not released in both anime and manga color schemes
Most of the Team Members of the Throne Scramble Teams (Excluding Teams Kinnikuman and Kinnikuman Soldier) were released towards the end of Romando's run in A and B colors representing anime and manga respectively.
Mixer Taitei only ever got released in a color scheme that resembles his anime appearance (The colors don't even really match at that)
This could be attributed to the fact that Mixer Taitei was released before the later Throne Scramble characters, before Romando committed to doing variants for each. However, Romando went back and did a variant for one of the other early Throne Scramble figures, the Manriki. So why re-release Manriki and not Mixer Taitei?
Does anybody have any info on this? Is there a manga color scheme Mixer Taitei floating around in the ether somewhere, or was he just arbitrarily ignored by Romando when they were deciding who to release in multiple color schemes?
It's just so odd to me they'd do every team member but him - Even a character as meaningless as Leopardon got two massive figures. Heck, Leopardon's two figures actually have different sculpts in addition to the changed colors. Some characters like Parthenon even got more than 2 variants.
So it's not like they were opposed to doing this. Just something that I've always been curious about.
