Two years ago, I think, the market was flooded with cyan Jotun Trolls, pine T-Rexes, and orange Hydras by this one seller who inexplicably kept selling them in lots of five each. I won an auction of each and divided them up among collectors here (and eventually sold the ones I had kept). So I might not call those rare exactly, but some of the others are certainly up there in terms of rarity.

Speak of the devil!

http://cgi.ebay.co.u...em=260663946147

The seller obviously learned his lesson from last time as he's only listing them in lots of three this time around

I am obviously up for one of each of these, although I'm guessing I'm not the only one.

However, if there's any kind of group buying effort going down, I definitely want a piece of the action.

I noticed them too this morning, kind of coincidental seeing as they were mentioned very recently here. I was thinking maybe there might be some group effort to buy them too and second you on that one Danny

Not sure I'd be prepared to splash out 80 notes per figure though

I'm the $17.48 winner of the Jotun Trolls, in his feedback. B)

The feedback isn't representative of every set sold two years ago either.

I asked the seller if they knew the source of the figures? If they were in single packs,
boardgame or from cereal.

This is their reply (the irony is that they mention my website):

"From what I found out, and I had to do a lot of research, these monsters were re-releases
of the series 1 monsters, they were called premium monsters - here's one source
http://www.monsterco.../1-premium.html So, they are series 1 monsters in series
2 colors. I did some more research and found out that they're not the cereal box prize monsters,
and I'm not sure if they were offered in a single pack. It's a little confusing because this site
http://monsterinmypo...m/wiki/Series_1 lists these colors as premium colors that
came with the board game, but when I looked at the board game pieces, these monsters weren't
there. I got these from a guy who used to own an arcade on the jersey shore. He said that he
would give them away as prizes, so who knows if there were a seperate series of monsters for
situations like that. I really don't know, but I hope that this answers your question. =) "
