Hello,

Apologies if this post violates any forum etiquette or rules, just let me know as I'm new here.

It may be a result of being cooped up lately, but I've decided to start collecting M.U.S.C.L.E. figures. I remember playing with them as a kid and figured why not start a new hobby.

My goal is to eventually have a full loose set of the original flesh colored ones (minus #236). That's it I think, which seems achievable.  Any tips or advice?

Thanks.

Welcome to the community! 235 flesh MUSCLEs is definitely an attainable goal. It's usually best to buy larger lots of figures. That's the most bang for your buck. When you narrow your needs list down to a few dozen, the people on this messageboard will prove very helpful. Also, if you do buy figures in large groups, you'll probably accumulate a few duplicates which you can use to trade for ones you are in need of. Good luck, and happy collecting!

Also, 236 seemed like an impossible figure to find, but with patience you can trade for, or acquire one rather affordably.

My best advice is that flesh colored MUSCLE figures are not rare, no matter what anybody tries to convince you of, if a deal seems hinky, just ask for advice. There’s some real snake oil salesmen in the hobby.

lucky for you, they mostly only care about Class A color figures.

Thanks all.  I'm not on Facebook and stubbornly refuse to change that. I had a couple questions on cleaning, but the beginner's FAQ pinned thread answered them. Thank you.

I know a few people that just use it for the toy groups on Facebook. A lot of people sell and trade there. Some that don't frequent here anymore or sell on eBay.

I didn't bother for so long that it became a combination of missing the bus and pretending it's a principle.

I couldn't find the fishing tackle 5700 boxes mentioned on a storage thread, but did buy a bunch of 17 slot large bead containers that I hope will work well for numbering until I have a display set.  I plan to add a plastic piece to make it 18 slots.

Should have a good start with some loose lots of mostly flesh ones so looking forward to cleaning, organizing and getting a sense of the task of a full set.

You didn't miss shit with Facebook. The juice isn't worth the squeeze. Joining the forum, monitoring eBay, and hitting up antique stores and flea markets is your best bet. Good luck!!

Things are a little rough right now. Prices are up, due to the pandemic. A lot of new collectors are entering the hobby, because they're homebound, so supply is not currently meeting demand. The desirable sculpts are skyrocketing in price, and those who have bulk lots are either listing them for ridiculous prices, or guarding them jealously. I'm personally not trading my doubles except for figures I don't have.

That said, the market will recover, deals can still be had if you're patient, and the fine folks here are some of the best around. If you're serious with your collecting, you'll have a set in no time. Best of luck to you, and happy collecting!
