Selling my collection of Bad Eggz Bunch, I almost had half the set, 2 of which I only paid£2 inc postage for both.

Grandpa says "Ohhh, awwww, look at my color changing toy. If you put it in cold water it's one color. If you put it in warm water it's a different color!"

Grandson says "check this shit out. Angry Birds is effing tits. My finger controls the movement of the birds on my tablet!"

Grandpa says "wowy kazowy! If I put my thumb on this rub it reveals a wood, water, or fire symbol.

Grandson says "So, when I click on this app on my phone to open up Skype I can talk to Megan in Germany I met last summer. And it doesn't cost anything."

Grandpa says "HOLY COW look at this hologram. If I hold it * this way * by the light I can see a 3D image! Now, if I turn it slightly like this, the image is all green. Now this way it's blue. OH WOW! And this way it's all orange.

Grandson "yeah, well I just clicked a button on the remote and am going to autorecord the shit out of all of these episodes. Then later I might watch them on tv, my computer, or my phone. What do you think of them apples, pops?

Wow. You cut straight to the zeitgeist of our toy collecting moment. I think we should all consider the implications of your question: "Are we truly grandpas?"

I think they do. Look at the new GPK cards. They have motion cards, folding cards, glow in the dark cards, etc. The recent TMNT line also has ooze and ooze figures similar to the original line.

There is a difference between technology (ie. video games. movies, etc) and toys (ie. action figures, trading cards, etc).

But unfortunately we (adult collectors) are a primary audience for a lot of those toys you mentioned, because they are reincarnations of old lines, not new kid-oriented ideas.

Essentially their strategy is:

1. Get adults (collectors) to buy TMNT and GPK for themselves

2. Get adults (parents or relatives who are non collectors) to buy these for their kids because of their own fond memories.

This wouldn't happen consistently if the kids didn't like them and play with them though. The new TMNT cartoon is good. Both my kids like it, ages 9 and 3, and both of them play with the new TMNT toys. I don't buy them for myself.

A lot of kids still like toys. The kids that get more into video games, the internet, or sports won't care about color changing toys or rubsigns, but toy collecting kids still like that stuff.

That is true about those specific toy lines but there are new lines too such as Skylander and trashies for example. My main point of constructive argument is that in your first post everything the Grandpa has is a toy. The Grandson is talking about technology.

Both are used for entertainment but I think there is a separation between the two. I'm just saying the comparison isn't equal and so I don't think we are Grandpas. Even if you were comparing Battle Beasts/Gormiti to Skylander I don't see that big of a difference between toys of then and now. If you were to compare gaming on the other hand (Original NES vs PS3), then I could see us being grandpas.

Edit: I just thought of another example, DVR vs recording tv shoes on a VHS tape. I remember recording the Simpsons on VHS tapes. Now I feel like a Grandpa! :)

Clearly, you have struck to the heart of toy collecting.  In light of your immense wisdom, we shall all now quit, but not before giving you our gold bullion in exchange for toys.

I think "grandpa" was a bit of a leap from grandson. It's more like father vs son on those levels of toy/tech improvements. We moved a long distance in a short time with last two generations.

I mean, my 10 year old still geeks out for color change toys. She has more tech than we did at hear age, but I think there's always going to be a place for plastic figures in the hearts of kids.

And, as I said, I have a ten year old... I'D BETTER NOT BE A F**KING GRANDPA!!!

Rid, why even give this piece of cuttle-shit the dignity of a response?

We love toys.

He's on a toy forum.

Talking shit about toys.

If the mods and Karis don't want to flush this turd, the best we can do is not step in it.

My kid LOVES Battle Beasts. She always wants to go into the room I have my toys, and "check their powers." This includes every time I get a new, we must always "check the power." She's four-and-a-half. She also loves Beast Saga. (She calls the dice "blood dice"). I bought her a clear bat and she shot his dice all over the house until they were lost.

Like others, I also think you're making a bit of a jump between tech and toys. Not all tech is toys, so it's hard, (impossible, really), to compare holo-cards to an ipad. They're just not the same category.

Cuttlefish posts bullshit like this all the time, why is this one actually a thread people are paying attention to?

He is a troll who only starts drama to try and stay relevant and sell stuff/make money here.

He has been doing this for years, no idea why jkaris keeps him around, unless its for the board to have someone to shit on.
