Here is what I have of the fabled CANFULL OF MONSTERS line. I bought a set in 1979 and loved them as a kid, then discovered the set years later and started chasing after them again. All of the figures pictured are confirmed as COM and not their Japanese, slightly larger counterparts.
Intel online is extremely limited, the most useful piece being the one on the MiniFigs site. That piece suggests there are "about" 15 sculpts in the line, and I think that is a good estimate, but not confirmed. At this point in time I believe there may be 16 sculpts. My prospect is shown in blue color at far right. He is a prospect because the color is right, the density is right, the foot markings are consistent with others in the line, and I have a slightly larger version of the sculpt (in black --- which is 100% not a COM color), which suggests that this blue figure is a smaller version of a Japanese sculpt. Also, in the MiniFigs article, a yellow version of this sculpt is shown --- but since many lots that come up for sale lack any documentation as to where they were originally purchased, most lots I consider to be "corrupted" as a mix of COM and Ultraman figures from Japan. So, I do not know if the selection pictured on the MiniFigs site is an original purchase or a collection over time.
I would like to collect more intel in this thread! Do you have any COM figures? Please post pics --- we can confirm 'prospects' this way and come up with a coherent master list.
I hope you enjoy the pictures of my collection!
