I unknowingly bought this light blue claw from arforbes. I didn't pay much and don't see what his angle would be in dyeing it but now I'm curious what everyone else thinks. Does this look dyed?

The color is consistent top to bottom and it gets carried in my pocket frequently. I would have expected dye to have rubbed off at this point.

It's kind of the nuclear option, but you can nick the surface a little to see if the color is consistent underneath. Dyed or sun-bleached figures will retain their original color underneath.

I think though that dyeing a figure light blue would be next to impossible. You'd have to start from a lighter color and I don't think you could get to light blue from flesh or orange without the warmer tones showing through.

Dark blue can be dyed purple with some success though, so watch out for purple class As sold under Forbes' many accounts.

Thank you

I still hate that he turned from an upstanding member into a complete scumbag.

or rather that he convinced us that he wasn't a complete scumbag for a while.

it's really gotta suck to have such a great collection, but to have pissed off the entire community and support group FOR that collection. If I were a fan of a property, but couldn't interact with the fanbase, how would I get any enjoyment out of it?

Yeah it's kinda a shame. Although most of my interaction with the fanbase are with the two little muscle heads that I'm trying to raise. Have you checked your needs thread?

The only reason I could see someone to dye a figure is to sell it as a class A. Which both the light blue Claw and Sunshine Arch isn't. Also there's still a small gap in that Arch that's the same color of the outside. I don't think dye would penetrate the plastic past the very surface. What did you use to cut it?

Purple #15 is class A. I'm Pretty sure Bones' picture depicts a dark blue #15 dyed to look purple.

There were a bunch of purple class As sold using Mrs. Forbes' account last year. I think there are a lot of fake purple class As floating around out there now, especially Sunshines.

Thank you

Well that sucks. I'm not into the class thing or trying to chase a complete collection but that really sucks. Can't people just enjoy the thrill of finding and collecting things without trying to ruin it

I'v mistaken purple and dark blue Muscle from pics before unless they're side by side. Totally thought that was a dark blue. Lighting can do that I guess.

Oh man, everyone with these dyed class As should put them on eBay labeled like that. "Genuine Alex Forbes Dyed M.U.S.C.L.E. Men"

And thanks to Bones for showcasing the dye jobs in brutal detail. I don't know why, but it had never occurred to me that salmon would be possible to dye from orange. It seems so obvious now.

Thank you

Thanks for sharing all this. I'm happier my color of choice is one that looks very difficult if not impossible to replicate but it really sucks to those trying to get purples and these others that can be faked. This community is so small I feel like it's not worth the damage in doing something like that. People are going to know, and I really understand that Forbes hate now. I can't believe all this trouble over some little rubber toys.

Either this person is very enlightened in their approach to pricing and selling class A Sunshines, or Bones' prediction didn't take long to come true.

I can tell to you for a fact he is far from enlightened when it comes to pricing Class A figures. I've bought some from him before at prices far exceeding any auction I've ever seen
