Prince's "Nasty Girl" Vanity also died on Feb 15th. Didn't think it was a big enough name to give a deathpool post.
She was 57 also.

I bought the Girl 6 soundtrack just for that song. Couldn't find it for download or on any other cd.

It is weird that on local radio they keep saying that Apollonia died on Feb 15 instead of Vanity. Over and over.
No one has called in to correct them.
They also keep asserting that Prince's death is the biggest death of the "social media age" (since MJ in 2009 was before the "social media age").
They have completely forgotten about Bowie. So weird.
Just to validate how weird it is that they have forgotten that Bowie is dead, on Rolling Stone's top 100 singers of all time... Prince is #40 and Bowie is #23. Just sayin.
Slow news day, I guess.

They croak, and everybody suddenly laments the loss to whatever industry they worked in, droning on about how they're such a big fan.
And then it's over and everybody forgets about it. It's laughable.

Yeah, totally laughable. And Prince was only worth 43 points.

To be clear, I'm not saying that a person dying is laughable. Just in how the general public goes crazy every time a celebrity dies.

People really are genuinely upset to have lost this enormously talented man, and with good reason.

I mean, Bowie, Prince... These dudes were game-changers. They changed the direction of music, fashion... They influenced a lot.
As far as the ADD nature of society, I mean, it's always "on to the next thing" now that the instant gratification allowed by technology has whittled away any attention span that the fish-headed majority might have had.

I was pretty shocked when I heard. Although I somehow never heard about his emergency landing a few days prior due to health issues, or his tour cancellation of a few shows. Wonder when they will release the underlying cause.
Losing two huge and somewhat similar (although still vastly different) musicians in one year reminds me of 2014 - when both Robin Williams and Phillip Seymour Hoffman died.
Check out my want list: http://www.littlerub...howtopic=269336
I am always looking for more Robin Mask #214, Sunshine, Announcer, Claw, and Parthenon - MUSCLE or KESHI of any type!
LETS MAKE A DEAL!

We're in the same boat. I'll never understand the reactions people have to deaths of people they don't know.

We're in the same boat. I'll never understand the reactions people have to deaths of people they don't know.
I'm a pretty huge Beatles fan, and I remember when George Harrison died tearing up. But I also remember it having something to do with the way he died... he passed away from throat cancer due to smoking. And I remember getting really emotional at his death, but also this underlining fear that something could happen to my Dad (also a smoker). This was 2001 or so I think.
And long and behold, 2014... I was right. Even after having given smoking up 7-8 years prior.
I was a pretty big Bowie fan, and felt a little tinge of despair there too... but in general Draz, I would say that I am in a similar boat. Where there's enough distance between me and a celebrity (complete strangers), where I'm kind of bewildered by some folks reaction. But it there was any reactions I could could start to understand, it's with the death of a popular musician.
Music becomes so personal to the listener sometimes, it can take on a life far more intimate and greater than perhaps the musician even intended. Some songs or albums or whatever can become part of us and thus quite jarring when we learn of the passing of the musician.
Probably the only one left for me where I will be truly moved when they pass will be Tom Waits.

Yeah - I'm not huge into seeing live music... but I would LOVE to see Waits before he passes.
