Calling all Canadians!

Mutant Mania has arrived in Canada!

Unlike the ones in the US -- which are distributed directly by Moose -- the packs in Canada are distributed by Red Planet Group.

Earlier today a new LRG member named UltraSquid posted a picture of what I believe is the first super rare Limited Edition Astro Mutant figure ever pulled anywhere!

http://www.littlerub...216894&p=606982

This is his picture.  This is his figure. He can add any kind of comment here, and I encourage him to do so.

In the meantime, I would like to give a heads up to anyone in Canada who would like to go to their local TRU for an opportunity to pull an extremely rare figure.

This wave of figures completely bypassed the US.  Many of the figures he has found in Canada -- while not explicitly rare -- are the exact figures that we are looking for in the US to complete our sets.  So, even if you are not collecting Mutant Mania yourself, you sure could help out a few of us around here by getting some excellent trade-stock.

If the pattern holds true with other Moose releases, the pack code will be the same with all figures of The Sludger.

He will show up in other single-can packs with pack code: EL2551425.  The last two numbers are what is distinct among the packs.

Also, there are 3 other Limited Edition Astro Mutants out there: Brain Wrecker, Space Cowboy, and Captain Crater.  I am betting that these all will turn up in the Canadian/Red Planet Group stock, either in 8-packs, or single cans.

In summation...

Canadians go find the rarest of the rare Mutant Mania!

And congratulations to UltraSquid on an incredible, first-ever pull!

Mr. Rotters,

I always think it's cool how you break this stuff down by the code and everything else. I know nothing about this stuff... and I'm always impressed.  Break it down to a science!!

They did have it for Fistful of Power, a couple of guys (Godbeast included I think?) worked out that secrets could be found in specific packs. That was how they ended up with a ton of Xars etc.

I just think it is cool that the members of a community can support each other.  I would love to see a couple rare pulls from members here.  I think that would be awesome.  These rare Astro Mutants are potentially worth a couple hundred dollars each.  Do whatever you want with that money, or keep the figure.  I would just like to see and hear of successful pulls.   This is a hot tip for Canadian members and the opportunity is now. Hopefully this information can help someone out.

I live in British Columbia, Canada and I decided to take your advice and check out my local TRU's for some Ultra Rare Astro Mutants. I went to the first store and found a single can ending with #25. I was very excited but when I opened it up it was a common figure. I decided to try another store and I found another #25. I opened it up the same common figure was inside. I decided that the #25 did not factor in to Ultra Squid's win, so I gave up. I happened to be driving by a TRU and thought I might as well try once more since the can's are only $1.38. This time I found 2 Can's ending with #25, I bought them both and I opened the first can and found the limited edition Astro Mutant. The other can was the same common figure. So it seems that not all the cans ending in 25 are holding limited edition figures. I am still extremely happy to have found another Sludger figure.

Very cool!  2nd confirmed Astro Mutant anywhere!

Look how close your two number are too: #114 and #118.

I am betting that the other 3 Astro Mutants will also show up in the Canadian stock -- either in other single packs or 8-packs.

Congrats on a great pull!

If people start finding many of these, how long before they are coined as not rare anymore? Similar to a muscle class A sculpt that pops up again and again- people start viewing it as common and only sells for under $5....

Still only thousand are out there... and kind of like xars they might just dissappear. I read from old threads people having up to TWELVE Xars and everyone having atleast one(The Barrage tactic). Nowadays not all have one(i dont) and pretty much the all time course of Xar prices on ebay has been the same, around 100$ wich was oddly slightly higher when they were more common.

effing moose lines and darn waves and superultrahyper rares still getting released commonly on certain areas

Any sense of value is still speculative at this time.  2 of 1000 figures have been found (and this is of 4 rare figures) and neither have been sold on ebay.  Value is what someone -- anyone -- is willing to pay.  Which is based on supply and demand.  Supply will remain static at 1000 figures max (for the Sludger).  Demand has not been established.

I do believe Moose is honest on their "limited to 1000" statements.  Far fewer than this will ever show up.  Or, possibly the real production numbers are actually far fewer.

Of Trash Pack figures with an alleged production of 10,000 figures, only about 3-5 made it to ebay -- where they sold for quite a bit.  Either a whole bunch were found and never sold, or they just never actually made it to the packs, or they were never actually made.  Who knows.

I think Mutant Mania will see a European release.  I don't know for sure.  Let me ask you guys this:  Does Moose release directly in Europe or partner with another distributor?  They might be shopping for a distributor like Giochi Preziosi or someone.

If I were any of you guys in Europe, I would be writing Moose and to find out if/when they are coming out.  Just writing them shows there is interest (demand).

I wrote to Moose and asked if there would be a Series 2.  It took them two weeks to get back to me, but they confirmed that there are no plans for a Series 2.

Also, since only 1/4 rares have been found, we have no parameters for the total number of rares.

This is my best guess:

Brain Wrecker -- 250

Space Cowboy -- 500

The Sludger -- 1000

Captain Crater -- 5000

Another possibility would be:

Brain Wrecker -- 10000

Space Cowboy -- 5000

The Sludger -- 1000

Captain Crater -- 500

With the Trash Pack, Limited Editions ranged from 250 to 10,000.  Some series had 3 LEs, some 5, and only one had 4.  Also, sometimes the rarity went up with the chronology, and sometimes it went down.

Anyway, the other rares could be in Canada right now.  Get out there and find them!

I put the information, including photos of each of those rares on this thread:

That is all the toys r us in my area. I went to 6 stores and bought 5 and one was the limited edition. I dont thinl there are anymore ending in 25 in my area.

You may want to take a chance on some 8-packs or other single packs.  Besides the Astro Mutants -- finding those is a prize all your own -- there are 20 base-set figures that I am looking for still.  UltraSquid has found at least 8 that I need in single packs and he has posted pack codes for those.  I will gladly pay $2 apiece (or lots more in trade value) for the figures that I am missing.  The fact is -- there is no stock whatsoever in my city.  MM has come and gone.  I can email you a list.

PS You have 6 TRUs in one city?  Insane!

There are 6 toys are us in cities around me but I am right in the center of all of them. There are still a lot of single cans here. What do you pay for singles in the states. Here they are 1.38 but I went to a store and they were 1.28?

Single cans were $3 regular priced.  But for almost the entire run of the series they were either "on sale" or "on clearance" week after week at 50% off -- so $1.50 per can.

Most of us bought 8-packs only which were $5 with the constant 50% off.   That is 62.5 cents per figure.

Plus tax.  ;)

Holy shit looks like the system works! Kind of annoying though that the rares are in same containers...
I tried this with FoP series 2 taking allways the pack with the same front guy but the interior was different every time. But if this only works for limited edition figs.. well that kind of sucks...

Aand while the prices are goddang insane... i want one! ;) Its really the limited edition stuff that drives people. eff!

Well good luck to all mutant mania collectors, you have something cool in your hands! Limited edition thats actaully available! :woot:

A new Astro Mutant, this time Space Cowboy was pulled in Vancouver, BC, Canada.  The figure is #98 of 1,000 which is interesting because it is the same number produced as The Sludger.  (Moose usually staggers their LE in 500, 1000, 2500, etc).  But, whatever, it's another super rare LE found in Canada.

It is on eBay. The seller is gothamcat001.  This is his picture.  He has not assembled the figure. He has not revealed the pack code.

BIN is only 1,200 USD.
