G'day there
could someone answer this for me plz
i have about 5 or 6 muscle dudes that dont have the y/s nt stamp
instead some have china across there arse
others have Hong Kong across there backs
the china types are a harder plastic
the HG are a much softer plastic than the musclemen

my question is are they just bootlegs ?
as i am unsure as to what the Exogini and kinnikuman are branded with.

Sounds like bootlegs to me.....

Yeah, they're probably bootlegs. A friend named Jay (midgetron) was trying to get a whole set of 233 in bootlegs before I think. We had a special "Bootleg alert" on the email group just for Jay, every time we saw some on eBay.

I have seen bootlegs with Hong Kong written on their backs which is the most common to me.

Some however, have nothing written at all. I don't think exogini have anything written on their backs either.

The Kinnikuman have the Y/S *N*T on their backs just like M.U.S.C.L.E. Men I believe.

You brought up an interesting point. Do you think that there were actually 233 bootlegs made? I think if a company had enough money to produce 233 bootlegs that they might have had enough money to create their own but you never know. I have three bootlegs, two are near identicle to the MUSCLE they were trying to duplicate except for plastic quality, and the third was a cross between a couple of characters (pics on my website under gallery). It would be an amazing accomplishment to have a whole set of just bootlegs. More than even having all pinks.

I have seen a bunch of different bootlegs. I have seen the bootlegs of M.U.S.C.L.E. figures along with Kinnikuman. I actually got a card from the vending machine man who was filling the machines at the grocery store with bootlegs of M.U.S.C.L.E. The company calls the ones with Hong Kong written on their backs "Star Creatures." I used to get them for 25 cents.

I wonder if I called this vending company maybe I could find more bootlegs!

Actually I've seen only the MUSCLEs as bootlegs,none of the 300 & 400 series ones. Actually I think that they're just cheaper plastic versions done at the factory,since in HK they were plentiful!

I have seen a few of the 300-400 series done as bootlegs. I think maybe they were bootlegs of Kinnikuman and M.U.S.C.L.E. Who knows!

It was years ago when I saw them, I think they were available in those machines at the grocery store, but I could be mistaken. It was a long time ago...I was still a kid!

The only bootleg I ever had looked like a sailor dude......I think it's on Nathan's page.....

it was very VERY rubbery plastic, and didn't even begin to match the bright pink of a legitimate MUSCLE......but I liked my sailor guy.....the other guys would punch him, and his legs would bend back at a sickening angle......

I miss my MUSCLEs.......one day..........

A full set of bootlegs huh? I know there are some figures I don't have bootlegs of but I will have to check how much of a set I have. I will let you know.
