Any good stories of rare figs snuck into big lots? I check newly listen auctions a lot hoping for some gold.

My victories in this field have been minor at best.

Someone got a good price on this MIMP series 3 fig today (Bummed I missed it)

Way too old a lot to link it, this was years back, but grabbed a pink Abominable Snowman in a small lot of MIMP for something like fifteen bucks? I think it was a BIN and I was in the right place and time to grab it.

More recently, I scored a tiny bag of MUSCLE figures at TFcon for a Canadian buck (a whole loonie!) and it had a dark blue #18 in it! Need to clean it up and decide how I'll part with it eventually.

I've never really bothered buying big lots without being able to see exactly what I'm buying, but I have bought several lots over time that were mislabelled, resulting in 'hidden gems'.

On two occasions I've won mixed lots of 'small action figures', each of which contained a series 3 MIMP on both separate occasions - each time a Blemm unbelievably (one orange and one pink).

Another time I gambled on a late MIMP lot that contained three unusual looking figures from series 1 and 2. Upon receiving them they turned out to be something I'd not seen before, and to this day we haven't fully identified them. Possible test shots, possible customs - I don't think I'll ever know. Here's a link to thread I started about them: http://www.littlerub...howtopic=235720

it happens to me too, recently i've bought a lot of MIMP, none were hidden but i was not sure of the color of 2 t-rex. Moreover, i didn't realize i had a red karnak before receving it. i had seen it but not realize it was a "supposed not to exist" color.

I've also bought some lots of FOP with hidden guys, still a surprise when opening the packages !

I picked up my MIMP Abominable Snowman in a lot.

I could see his arm & leg barely sticking out of the bottom of the pile, and I took a gamble.

I paid about $40 for the lot, but there were about 40 figures in the lot, and almost no dupes.

The way I see it, I paid a little over $1 for a series 3.

I won a lot of MUSCLE on eBay that had 4 GPK Cheap Toys in it. One of them was yellow. I eventually put them back on eBay and they went for about 3 times what I paid for the lot.

Thank you

Thanks to some digging for figures to trade dixiebull, I realized that I had two color figures in my misc. trade pile that are Class A.   Other than this I have not had great luck on figures or toys.

However, this is how I find almost all of my higher end & valuable ballpoint pens.  Big lots of junk that reveal hidden treasures.  More than once I bought a $5-10 pile of pens to pull out $200+ in value!  If you can see the rare stuff or if its advertised, the pen lots always sell high.  But spend some time scouring poorly photographed and badly worded lots and $$. :D

I bought a lot of supposedly 17 MUSCLE + 2 Bonus Kinkeshi.  19 figures were pictured.  It looked like one was a Japanese blue kinkeshi and two figures were SUCKLE.  I only received 17 figures (14 MUSCLE and 3 SUCKLE).   And though I only have a small picture from the ebay lot that you can only make some out, I got dupes of one Super Phoenix and instead of the I think two different ones it should have been.   HOWEVER, I received a kickstarter exclusive SUCKLE not pictured and I got the Super Phoenix I needed from another order anyway.   Since the one unexpected figure was a cool bonus and the order wasn't missing anything I needed, plus my attention was on straightening out another more important mix up (which was remedied perfectly BTW), I just let it go without so much as a complaint and left the guy positive feedback anyway.

An order from the LRG store included two surprise bonus figures from October Toys, one of them glow in the dark.

No more rares but other surprises:

An order from Retroworld Korea ( http://www.storenvy....tro-world-korea though at this moment seems to be under maintenance) had a bag of four bonus kinnikuman kinkeshi plus a sticker of Kinnikuman with the stores's name.

Kayfabe threw in a bonus kinkeshi as well.

While not intentionally a mystery lot, this was one lot of MUSCLE had a really awful picture so I was doing sort of digital forensics to determine if it had I what I needed.   I was messing with the brightness, contrast, and sharpness slider in paint.net to try to make out details during the fluctuation.

Attached File  33plus10.jpg   37.31K   13 downloads

2nd row, 3rd of right.  I had a pretty good idea that was #216 The Ninja © (smiling with closed fists)  and I was right.   Still the only one of that MUSCLE I got.  Unexpectedly two MUSCLE of the lot,  Mongelman and Flasher Balloon, were rubbery bootlegs of a type I don't know specifically.

My best is an Orange Blemmyae in a lot of 48 monsters which cost £18.98, so the Blemmyae cost me 39p.

Funnily enough, one of my best was also an orange Blemm in a mislabelled eBay UK lot. Ending up costing me pence. I’ve had so many things come via mislabelled eBay UK lots.

Early last year I bought a huge vintage toy soldier lot that was listed and passed over again and again for months.  One day I looked closer and found that there were 42 Timmee WWII Russian soldiers mixed in with very common Timmee cowboys and indians that were made from the same shades of plastic.  I paid $400 plus shipping for the lot.  The Timmee Russians sell for $50 each in these particular colors.  There were lots of other good figures in the lot too, but those Russians were the score of a life time.
