I'm with ya JafariStew! Find myself wishing I had these as a kid, easily would have ruled my toy/play world. Can't get enough and chomping at the bit for the expanded line (excited for all these new sculpts...so many plans for ROTB)

You and me both brah!  :D  Absolutely CAN NOT WAIT for this line's amazing potential!

Hey guys,

I have been doing some custom paint jobs for Jkaris for his RotB line. I finished a few of them up, and wanted to see what you thought. I still have 5 more figures that I have to finish.

These first two are hand cast resin prototypes of the Rhino and Scorpion. The rhino is an homage to Sailon (A Rocky Rhino yellow/grey homage is coming next!) The scorpion I really wanted to do a desert scheme for him.

These two I did as homages to different transformers characters that have used these animals, namely Rhinox, from Beast Wars, and Scorponok, from Generation 1.

These next two are both plays on different Glyos colorschemes. The Rhino is a play on the original Venjorun armorvor colorscheme, but instead of a white wolf, its a black rhino. The black scorion is supposed to be both an emperor scorpion as well as a play on the Super Crayboth Shadow color scheme.

And this last guy is an homage to Marvel's Scorpion, one of Spiderman's enemies.

I have five more figures to finish, including Rocky Rhino homage figure. Hopefully those will be up soon. Thanks for looking. Let me know what you think!

*copy paste - beacause these are just so good!*

WOW man you did a KILLER job with these the colors and details are excellent on all of them, if I had to choose my favorites it would be the Sailon homage, Desert Scorpion homage and definitely the Rhinox & Scorponok colored ones! I flippin' love those! Maybe Johnny could have those run sometime, as I think they would be a hit!

Looking fwd to seeing your "Rocky Rhino" and other creations! Keep us the stellar work!

I am surprised you didn't opt for a Beast Wars Scorponok color scheme, on top of the G1 homage, to go with Rhinox. Well, cartoon color, a toy-color version wouldn't be much different from the black one you already have. Very cool customization work overall!

I have more RotB figures that I am working on. Beast Wars Scorponok is one of them. I just finished Rhinox and G! Scorponok first, as I felt those color schemes were a bit more iconic.

I have 5 more figures sitting infront of me that still have to be finished. After that, I'll grab some more figs from Jkaris and do some more. Lots of custom RotB figures coming from me in the near future.

Will any of these figures be for sale?

As both a Beast Wars and now RotB collector these would look nice on my shelf.

If yes, what's the charge?

Ninja edit: With the gorilla, ant, lion and lizard coming out we could even have a Primal, Inferno, Lio Convoy and Megatron/Dinobot paint schemes too.

Oh no. My wallet quivers.

Your shade and highlight work on the Spiderman Scorpion homage is my personal favourite. Before receiving my first ROTB figures, I thought they were much larger (even with Jon showing us scale comparisons, the pictures made me tend to forget), hard to appreciate the level of small detail here until I pick up the figure.

Ahh, good man! Read where you said you had more to go on but I didn't actually expect BW Scorponok would be one of them. Fantastic, can't wait to see it and the others!

Draznar, not sure how I'd feel about all the dinos getting replaced with a lizard, but it sounds like a sweet plan anyway!

Yes, these will be for sale. I have actually been making these for Jkaris directly. He will decide the exact details at some point. Once I finish the five more figures that I have, I'll send the entire lot over to him to decide what to do with them.

And I was having the same thought as you regarding more Beast Wars customs/homages. With this line, I plan to do several different custom homages, including a little series of Beast Wars characters, original BB/LB homages when possible (The lion and Gorilla are already lending themselves to that theme! And probably a red and black Gorilla along with an orange and black variant), as well as a series of Ray Harryhausen style mediterranean aged/weathered bronze titans duking it out. I have a lot of ideas rattling around in my head for what I plan to do with color schemes for these guys. I also have a couple guys coming up that will have some fun, new sculpting on them to change them up a bit too. I hope you guys like them when you see them!

Yep, BW Scorponok was planned as soon as I decided to start doing homage paint schemes. And there will definately be an Optimus Primal from that gorilla as well as a Leo Convoy from the Lion (Might have to do a touch of sculpting to his right shoulder to complete that character). I also had planned doing a little bit of custom sculpting on that Ant to make a Waspinator if only I could find some wing that worked....

Thank you everyone for the compliments. I am very excited to be making these little customs. I can't wait to show you guys more!

Eric

I agree with you, but I can't ask Jon to shell out thousands of dollars for molds so that I can have a Rise of the Beasts customs to become my Beast Wars dream team. I'll have to make do with what comes out!

You can't? Why the hell not?

I don't expect it to happen anytime soon given the line's current focus, but throwing some prehistoric stuff among all the extant choices would be sweet down the road.

And man, a Waspinator custom from the ant!  This thread gets better and better.

I pleaded for dinos at one point and Jon gave me a winky emoticon so I think those are definitely something he is considering.

Everybody knows that winky faces are business promises.

Well, most of those pics are two different angles of the same group.  ;)

But, man, ROTB armies do look good! Can't wait for more.

I'm liking the idea mentioned in the other thread about alternate heads for each sculpt to provide more characterization.

So remember that time I painted up a custom scorpion with golden arms and a green body?

Well I thus ended up with an extra gold body with green arms... so I painted those extra as well and now I have two custom scorpions!
