I had most of the Socket Poppers line when I was a spirited youngster back in the early to mid 90's but like most of my other little rubber guys these too faded with adolescence. However, unlike all of those other treasured lines, I've found next to nothing on Socket Poppers here at LRG! What gives? Didn't anybody else collect this wonderful series? Anybody actively buy/sell/trade these guys?

I've got 3/4 of the line and dozens of spare parts, yep.  I hadn't intended to collect them, but as I'd find parts here and there in the wild I started Googling and looking at Ebay lots about a year ago.  A bit past my time, I'd much rather have been around 5 when they were released instead of a teenager.

Fun line, wish they'd went on with many more series.   Several really fantastic sculpts.  If someone made custom SP parts I'd be all over that.  I think they are far more interesting than the later Xevoz, but that could just be a generational thing.

I'm not familiar with Xevoz but I did love me some Socket Poppers. If you ever have any doubles for sale or trade shoot me a message. I probably love M.U.S.C.L.E and MIMP above all other lines but Socket Poppers hold a special place in my heart and seemed to be fairly difficult to find on ebay.

I had several as a kid. I sold most of them a few years ago because space is limited and I focus on mini figures. But I kept the Cyclops and Muck-Man. Absolutely love those two. I'd like to get the Mummy too.

Unless my brain is playing tricks on me, these were all sculpted by David Arshawsky, who did a bunch of the vintage TMNT stuff, the recent Oh No Aliens, etc.

Not too difficult, man.  You can get most of them loose complete for $10-$20 all day.  The cool original versions, Matchbox Con-Nec-Tors, come in neat little window boxes and are also easily attainable.

I might have a spare figure or two.  Loose parts, too, if that's your thing.

Gorgeous sculpts.  The Mutant and Fly are two other stunners.   I wouldn't be surprised a bit about the TMNT connection.  The line is filled with that TMNT, GPK, Madball, "gross out" vibe.

Is it sad that I also know their original names?

;)

Yeah, they are great! He has a very cool style. He's still at it too. On Facebook he just posted some kickass zombie/monster pencil topper heads he sculpted for current vending machines. I want to track some down.

I didn't know those lines were done by the same sculptor; that's some quality info right there.

No, you're right. I've just been hesitant to spend $10-$20 per figure I suppose. In addition to the ones you guys listed, I also liked the football player and dinosaur. If you do come across some doubles let me know which ones they are.

Would those be the Undead Heads or Heads of Horror?

Heads of Horror! I can only find them in bulk for like 50 bucks.

My cousin was able to find them in a couple of locations in Monroe, Michigan. He has a full set and was able to get me a near full set. I think I'm missing one head. He may still have doubles yet. I could ask if you'd like.

I've got a bunch of those horror heads.  Goooood stuff.  Really 70s Ben Cooperish.   At .50 each in the machines, a bulk buy might be the way to go.  If someone wants to go in on a lot, I'm down.

I'll keep you in mind for any spare stuff, Joel.

I have extra set of heads of horror, nearly complete. Just missing the rockabilly zombie. He's been a hard one to get out of the vending machines.

That's them! For some reason I hadn't thought of checking eBay. Thanks for posting.

Thanks man! Now that I see they're on eBay I'll probably eventually grab a set there.

It makes me happy that David Arshawsky is still making awesome monster toys all these years after TMNT, Socket Poppers, etc. As I mentioned he sculpted the Oh No Aliens as well. At least someone is keeping modern capsule toys from completely sucking.

A good vending machine find is a tonic for the spirit when on the hunt for mini-figures.
