Just thought I'd add that I've found one of these on an eBay listing in Australia. It's the only one I can find on eBay.
The seller has the brand as unknown.

Kind of adds to the mystery...

Found this pic online, they look to be made by H.C Ford & Sons ltd (H.C.F) & are quite vintage.
