Hello all. This is my first post here, but it's exciting news. There's a guy who has toy production facilities who is willing to cast, for free, new MUSCLE-style figures. All he asks is that you send him a sculpture, and he'll send you 20 casts of the fig. More info HERE.

I got involved on the ground floor with this project with Mad Joe. Basically he wants to do a giant collaboration with artists/sculptors/toy makers to make unique Keshi/MUSCLE guys, and then do a big presentation of all the different artists.

He is offering up the casting services to artists who need that done to be part of the collaboration.

You get some free guys, but you are also participating in a collaboration, so it isn't really "free stuff" wow kind of thing, effort is needed.

Here is the post from his site:

Attention CUSTOMIZERS AND ARTISTS!!!!

A new page has turned In the custom figure world.

Mad Joe Customizer is announcing the first of a series of tributes to the classic lines of Muscle -

Kinnikuman!

He is offering this unheard of opportunity!

If you send your sculpture (compatible in size and style to Kinnikuman) to him,

he will mold it free!

This what you get:

You will retain rights to your creation

You will get it molded for free

You will get 20 castings for free

Your piece will be included in the master series ( 20 set run ) of the 5 figures produced for the month. that will sold a month after you have received your 20 figures

the project has to be funded some how right? and thats what the sales of the master set is doing...

You will get full credit for your work

Your work will be featured in a mini book about the series! with info on the artists

as for the artist that have their own means production i guess you dont really need my help but i still want you to be part of the collaboration

and i would also like to include you in the mini book in order to help promote your figures (so people know how to get a hold of you in order to buy or trad figures with you ) ..

as for a time line-dead line, i will only be doing 5 figures (from 5 artist) a month and i will be doing this for as long as i can keep it going...

This project is focused on promoting the upcoming artists and customizers

and paying a tribute to the great Kinnikuman- Muscle line. "its just a big ass artist promotion project"

Sculptures can be made from scratch or be pieced together (some good old kit bashing) from other toys.

as for artist that cant sculpt or kitbash i just dont have the time to sculpt stuff four you guys ... =(

to submit your figures :

email me to confirm so i can email you the shipping address

so if you have any other question please get back to me asap

oh and it will be first come first serve !

Keep in mind that if he decides to sell what he casts, all of you artists need to make sure you get a percentage of any sales of your sculpts. Don't get screwed. Get the facts in writing.

Hes pretty clear in what he plans to give you. 20 casts. It then sounds like he'll do up 20 for himself to sell. What happens after that is what you need to prepare or plan for.

I intend to submit a few pieces to this project. Honestly, I am more excited at the possibility of seeing sculpts that I have made cast and distributed into the hands of monofig enthusiasts, as well as mine own, than anything else.

If I were to undertake such an endeavor myself, it would likely cost me more money than I could reasonably recoup. I would definitely not begrudge the chief undertakers of such a task the ability to reap the benefits of their work in promotion, production, and distribution. If they can make a profit from a multi-artist concept which they can make a reality, more power to them.

Aside from that, I just think the whole concept is fun, and I am always a fan of situations where artists' works are intermingled.
I look forward to the outcome of this, especially in seeing a poster-style checklist of all the various creations!

I would encourage anyone reading this, regardless of skill level, to contribute to this project. The percentage of contributors will be directly relative to the "coolness factor" of the finished line.

I think you're missing the point and the spirit of the project.

This is win/win for most people. And for the people it's not, I would expect to see figures from them.

veers: No I am not missing anything, I just don't trust many people anymore. This is the poster first post here (not saying he isn't honest) we just don't know him. As for the other guy, well, do you know him? Just saying, be careful. Some might think it is fun now, but how are you going to feel in the future when and if the guy makes big bucks off of YOUR design?

thats all I am saying.....:joecool:

Tyler, can't wait to see what you have come up with!

Yes. I tweeted about this guy earlier this week, and traded email with him.

I don't know if that's who the poster is, but I know the guy actually doing the project. His work is awesome and this is nothing but a good thing.

Yes, thats the guy who is getting all of us together to collaborate. He has been in the urban toy scene for ten years, and is a great guy.

The poster was created by Muscle Things http://musclethings.blogspot.com/

So are we going to see an official Little Rubber Guys keshi? ... a sculpt of a dude wearing a LRG shirt holding a Satan Cross keshi... or even a jlspeth keshi featuring a sculpt of him standing on a huge pile of claws with his right hand morphing into a claw... :teehee:
