Hi guys! Thanks for checking out my Popsicko build (well, the first post anyhow).

I should mention that this is my first time posting here in LRG. I love the site, and I hope you guys can follow along as I work on this fun little guy.

Here's the drawing.

Attached File  popsicko.jpg   79.78K   2 downloads

As you guys can see it's a possessed melting popsickle. He will be 2" tall.

Your input is apreciated, so let me know what you think.

I will begin sculpting today and I will show you guys the whole process. :D

I love the design!

The goop running from his head to his hand might be hard to cast the way he's drawn, but I'm no expert.

I'm sure the pros on this board can give you much better input that I can.

All I can say is this looks like something I'd be interested in buying!

Have you done other LRGs, before?

I see what you mean. I will probably pull the arm out a little more, and make the drips straight-er. :D

Thanks. I normally use Sculpey Grey.

I'm going to try and keep the center of gravity on the right side, where the ice cream drips down, so the bite might have to move over to the other side. I've done resin minifigs but never with rubber, I'll figure it out. HA!

Hi guys!

So I think that this guy is going to be a tipping-McTipper. So to balance the center of gravity I think he should lean on the ice cream foot. Like the drawing below. Let me know what you guys think.

So I've begun sculpting this little guy.

On the picture below you guys see how I constructed the armature. Just before I start slapping clay on it I like to give it a thin coat of Vaseline, it helps the sculpey stick to the armature.

Here is el problema! That wire were the popsickle stick comes out was too far out. (shame on me).

LOL

Attached File  FullSizeRender(5).jpg   18.47K   6 downloads

So I bent the wire and in the process I got this zombie like posture to the figure. WTF?! LOL But it added a dynamic feel, better than the original, so I kept it that way. Happy accidents happen all the time.

Here's a progress pic.

It really helps to build the basic shapes before you start adding the details. If you start adding details right away you might get the wrong proportions.

Do you use water to smooth the sculpy out like that?

You can't use water for smoothing out Sculpey, you can use 90% rubbing alcohol. But in this figure I didn't use it. B)

Also, I'm guessing you plan on making casts of him, yeah?

Do you plan on making him more rubbery and flexible, like Japanese Keshi figures, or some harder plastic?
