Is anyone friends with that Luke guy who used to show off amazing mini-mate customs here?

He entered a drawing a loooong time ago and it didn't get in but i keep hoping he'll try again. It was an evil little heart monster that i really thought would make a fun figure. He needs to toss that thing back up in the submissions.

That had my vote in S3. It's the Luke's Toy Store guy that sells the gold figures. It would be in my top 5 again if he does resubmit it.

Jimmy and I are going to submit this as "The Not-as-Cute REAL Meatgrinder"

(Yes that was a Ghostbusters Cartoon Reference)

IMG_6758.JPG

Then I am going to submit this one as The Original Cute Meatgrinder

You Go Guurls! I would love to see these make it :db:

I am going to make a  :db:  final attempt at it"SIGH" Me and Bleeding Edges worked together on a design I came up with. He did the awesome Illustration and I sculpted. We call him "BEARRITO!!!

I know it would be a long shot, but I will definitely not lose sleep over it. After the voting I will make them into High Quality rubber figures for all. The design is done,I just need to wait on illustration tweaks before I can post the full reveal.

That post about the Meatgrinder was a JOKE... I am not submitting anything new, and also pulled the other sketch I previously posted.

I decided if people were going to submit ideas hauntingly similar to my existing figures, that I might as well beat them to the punch.  I wanted to submit something before I started seeing bizzaro versions of them over on OT...

Yeah, pretty screwed up, how they stole your idea about making the meat a part of the grinder's body.andrew-laugh.gif

I just think its important for guys submitting confusingly similar designs of existing minifigures to know that other "artists" and collectors are watching.  I get that the unintentional duplication of ideas is bound to happen, but the scene is so small and specialized that it really makes you wonder.  This is especially the case when "new" ideas are based on designs that already exist in little rubber guy form (and were posted years ago on the OT forums).

Having ideas lifted by a big toy line could be devastating to small indie DYI toy producers.  This is especially the case when:

People could mistake it as your submission.
It would be the same type and style of minifigure as the existing minifigures that someone has already produced.
Collectors could buy one thinking it is another person's brand or character.
You would be competing in the same sphere for customers.
The figures would be sold at similar events and online venues.
The figures would be marketed towards the same and/or similar customer base.
The figures would be sold to the same or similar customer base.

Parodies, spoofs, and tasteful omages are another thing all together.  Most minifigure lines exist as an open nod to something else already out there.  If you are going to parody another idea though, try doing something original or clever with it.  There are a few submission based on cartoon characters and other designs that are almost exactly the same...

George and crew are smart enough though to handle this, and I seriously doubt that any submission would ever get through that would be a problem.  I am more concerned about putting jokers in check who try to get away with sneaky sh!% when they think no one is looking.  I wish the series the best of luck.

Nice!

I am submitting something just to be an ASSBUTT.

It is accidentally themed from a Bear,in which someone posted a bear costume over a human with a Butt Crack :laugh2:

But mine and B.E's submission has heart. A Bear popping outta a Burrito Suit.

That's supposed to be him? the beardy bloke who runs October toys (I still can't remember his name)? I thought the joke was supposed to be it was just some random Starbucks employee amidst all the monsters. That's what then? A MUSCLE bin in his hand? Whoever drew it needs to brush up on likenesses and drawing bins. Sorry I've turned snobby, still as 'random guy' the picture's fine but as a caricature of someone it could be anyone - also, that means Stan Lee and potentially OMFG Beardy Bloke in less than six months but still no Jack Kirby? The world is askew.

Actually it's supposed to be the guy who submitted it, Improbable Cast.  The likeness isn't too bad and I'm guessing he's holding some liquid rubber or resin in the cup.
