Yeh some of the Super Scary figures were available without paint apps. They were also available in various colours without paint apps - for example Creature from the Closet was available in several rubber colours.

Anything to make getting a full set as ridiculous as possible :p lol

Anything interesting here? I noticed some of the Super Scary figures are mono, what's the deal with that?

Sweet! The Uk seemed to get all kinds of cereal stuff for mimp. Glad you pointed this one out.

Yeah. Too bad none of it is worth anything, unlike the US/Canadian stuff, which is worth a bundle. I mean, I can't even give MIMP sports stars away - literally.

Thanks for posting that scan Strontium Dog. I remember MIMP series 1 or 2 being in cereals in the UK, but I don't remember series 4 being in cereals.

Do you have any other scans of MIMP cereal packets? I'm still looking for a decent size scan or photo (i.e. big enough to read the text) of the Nabisco Shreddies cereal box with series 3 on it

Thanks burty but I need a bigger version than that, with clear text and photos. I'm hoping someone here has this box in their collection that's why I wondered if Strontium Dog might.

The seller says they're Cromy MIMP but I can't see the sculpts anywhere on Little Weirdo's photo reference site (http://www.littlewei...cromy-club.html) or anywhere in this thread

So these might actually be by the same guys who made the peru mimps? I read the article and it seemed kinda unsure :)

I don't really know (which is why the article seemed kind of unsure, haha). I'd welcome any additional info on them. When I was researching for that post, info was scarce.

hate it when that happens lol maybe one day we will find out! At least the good sign of someone claiming that they are, it leads to the possibility of it being true.

I have talked to several people about Monstruos Mutante and no one is sure whether they should be considered MIMP or not. I collect them too because why not? They are really neat little figures.

I would consider them MIMP-related items. The main reason is because some of the Monstruos Mutantes were based off MIMP sculpts. Not the glow-in-the-dark ones we're talking about (which were called "Radioactivos"), but the "Aqua-reactivos," which changed shape when placed in water, I believe. From what I've seen, there were 12 Radioactivos and 12 Aqua-reactivos in the Monstruos Mutantes line.

Here's an example of one of the Aqua-Reactivos, using Kali's design:

http://www.flickr.co.../in/photostream

Also, check out this pic of some little cards that came with them (image from minitoysperu.blogspot.com). You can see some of the artwork uses MIMP designs (like Gremlin):

I think that if they are made by the same company as the other ones, we have no real option but to accept them lol

Thanks everyone for the insights.

Apologies if I am missing something, but surely for any toys to be considered true MIMP they would have to be designed by MEG?

My memory is a little foggy, but IIRC the original MIMP were made by MEG and released by Matchbox, then later made by MEG and released by Tyco after they bought Matchbox.

I thought Cromy was just the foreign equivalent of Matchbox/Tyco? So if Cromy was making these without the input of MEG, surely they can't be considered true MIMP, even if they licensed the brand name.

Thoughts?

From what my understanding is that Cromy had the official license for the franchise in Argentina. They released the Argentina mimps but also had a collector's club. It was for the collector's club that the nameless 25 are from (26 if you count the weird statue guy). If it was from the licensed company for the same brand, it can still be counted as mimp in my view. Anything sold with the mimp title should be considered mimp for myself :p

Depending on the license they can probably slap the name on whatever and it is a MIMP. Not like it matters much unless you are a true nutcase like me that wants everything MIMP.

I guess opinion comes into it really. For example, a rich person could probably buy the rights to the MIMP brand name now and make the strange decision to release 4" figures of different types of ducks in diecast metal and call them "Monster In My Pocket". Personally I wouldn't consider them to be true MIMP, but some people would.

Don't get me wrong though the Cromy figures are fairly nice, even if I don't personally consider them to be true MIMP. And they're much better than the insects/aliens/dinosaurs too, in my opinion.

"True MIMP" has only the meaning you attach to it. If it is licensed and sold as MIMP that could be a "True MIMP". Or I (or preferably someone with talent) could sculpt up a perfect MIMP replica or new figure based on the cards and call it a "True MIMP." It can mean whatever you want it to. I collect any of the licensed stuff and any cool customs I run across at a sane price.

Also: Duck in My Pocket would be cool if they were murderous ducks with some painted blood...

Yeh exactly. I was considering expanding my collection to include the Cromy Club figures but after thinking about it I've decided just to stick with the regular series 1-4 MIMP.

Duck In My Pocket... ahahaha... that sounds hilarious but somehow amazing!
