I'm not sure if this is the point that the OP was trying to make, but even inside the base colors there is some variation in the color. As in some neon purple are darker than others even accounting for fade. But otherwise just go with what Fkro posted.
Also thanks for the shout out

Oh yeah, maybe. I thought he might have seen some of the foreign colors.
You're welcome.

What I meant initially by the "neutral colors" statement is that I have seen sellers on ebay post lots of series 1 monsters for sale where they might have a single monster for sale in a multitude of color variants. Sometimes the figures are black, gold, odd neon colors that don't coincide with the initial series 1 neon colors (Matchbox). After looking through the links fkro6784 provided it appears some of those figures could be premiums, European releases, Mexico, or Argentine releases among others. I wasn't aware of the various colors. I just thought there were the original four colors and then the neon releases that were sold in the U.S. as I am from the United States so I was thrown for a loop on eBay looking at all of these different colors.
I guess now it's a matter of paying attention to selecting the correct figure if I am to begin a complete collection of all Matchbox Series 1 color variations. I just got my hands on a green blemmyea the other day . My first series 3 monster

No problem!
Yes, it sounds like what you've seen are some of the foreign colors. The Matchbox release for Series 1 only had the 4 standard colors (some sculpts only made in 2 colors), the 4 neon counterparts (every sculpt made in every color, but some only available in France and a couple other countries), and the premium colors (orange, pink, cyan/blue, and pine green, plus 2 sculpts made in glow in the dark, Series 2 neon green and Series 2 magenta).
Congrats on your first Series 3 figure.

Thanks MercMonsterHunter, I am still working on it, but I am trying to make it as comprehensive as possible. MIMP info is strewn all over the web so I am trying to bring it all together in one spot.
With so many series and colors MIMP collecting is extremely hard but a lot of fun. If you need help feel free and message me, I love to talk about MIMP.

But thanks again for your help I'm sure I'll be asking more silly questions along the way. It's hard to get a grasp on any of these things when your five years old at the time of their release with no comprehension of series or what's rare. I'm glad I never got rid of any of them. Do you know if it's as simple as checking the manufacture stamp on the bottom of the figures to tell if they're a foreign release as opposed to a U.S. monster? I would assume the stamp would differ in some respect.

I'm not sure because I don't have many foreign figures. I think some, if not all, retain the markings but I can't remember offhand. But I think slightly smaller size, different colors, and flashing (extra bits of material around the figure) are usually ways you can tell.
I should also note that Matchbox figures you would have collected as a kid weren't limited to the U.S. The same figures came out in certain other places like the U.K. and France, and don't look any different than the U.S. ones. The ones that are different are from countries like Mexico, Peru, Italy, etc.

Yes the stamps are slightly different. I think the Sonrics have no "China" mark on their feet. The Italian figures have no point value and horrible sculpts, and many have nothing on the feet (can't remember if they all have nothing). Peru/Argentina have no feet markings. Greek have no feet markings.
Each series has specific things that identify them. I need to make sure I write a section to that effect on my site somewhere.

Behemoth, I've looked on your site and was wondering if series 2 and series 3 monsters have as many foreign releases that may differ in some way from the initial Matchbox and other U.S. releases, as it appears only series 1 was mass produced by other countries.
Sorry for all the typos my phone loves to autocorrect me

Cool, I'm just a little worried making purchases on eBay where I moght think the figure I'm looking at is the correct one and ends up being Italian or Mexican build. Of course I can contact the seller and request pictures or more information but ok a compulsive shipper when I see something I want which is dangerous.

Series 2 was released in UK and the US (maybe elsewhere), but all of them have been roughly the same. Series 3 was released only in the US and Canada. No other Series 2 and 3 versions have been discovered so far.
Italian sculpts are usually obvious because of how awful they look:

And gold monsters are only sold in the Italian versions.
As for the Sonrics, most of them are unique in color and they are usually only sold by sellers in Mexico (and the occasional reseller like Mike). They tend to be brighter colors overall than the Matchbox, but slightly less size and quality (they tend to have extra flesh on the figure or slight deformations on the feet):

Wow you're right some of those figures do look terrible. The molds came out scrappy and malformed. Do you know if the figures listed on the monstercollecting.com website are all of the known monster figures that exist in each color? So far it's helped me pin point non-Matchbox monsters that sellers are listing as Matchbox monsters and sold in the US.
It has all of the monsters from the Matchbox, but definitely not for the Mexican figures. The Italian figures come in all 5 colors (each figure is in every color). The site includes only the monsters he had pictures of.

Thanks Behemoth, you've been a great help. I just looked over your sales thread and you can bet I'll probably be PM'ing you in the future to buy some monsters off you to expand my collection. I really appreciate all of your help thus far and I'm in awe of all the extras you have. I thought I had a lot of MIMP but it looks like I was sooo wrong lol
Thanks I've been collecting obsessively for 24 years. MIMP are my sweet addiction
