What does anyone know about the late 90's Tomy Pokemon figures?

I was going through some boxes and found my old Gengars. Then I got to thinking about the other Pokemon from the first generation that are still my favorites.

The first (more purplish) has 1999 Nintendo China marked on it. It also has what looks like BFI.(?) The second is  marked with TOMY China on one side of it's back. Then what looks like Japanese characters followed by C-G-T-S-J.

What's a decent cost for these figures? Just in case I want to collect my favorite ones from the series.

EDIT: I just realized the first one might be a pencil topper. It has a hole in the bottom like one.

BFI would make the smaller Gengar one of the Poké Ball keychain figures. The hole is to uncomfortably wedge him into a peg sticking out of the middle of the bottom half of the ball, so he's secure in there when the ball's closed rather than have the figure rattling around.

Figure prices on the Tomy figures can vary wildly depending on what Pokémon you want, and you have to be a little careful about which auction you grab as bootlegs are common. Their quality is usually terrible though and you rarely see most as anything but huge lots from China, so it's not too bad unless you want something rare that's more likely to encourage a scam.

Original 151 are among the easiest to find, so you won't have that hard a time getting most of them. Some unfortunately are tricky... anytime I think of the prices for poor Omanyte and Kabuto... :( You might get lucky and have a modern version of the same original mold still kicking around, like Scyther inexplicably still being produced, same silly claws-down pose and all.

Great info! I found some on Ebay. But they're pretty pricey. I'd only be looking for a handful anyway. Like maybe 5 or 6. I could always make a need toys thread looking for them here.

Thanks for the info.

Also - don't forget that there are a lot of Burger King Kids Meal toys still floating around too.  I don't know if it was Tomy that produced them, but I see them get mixed in with lots around the same time (I think their original promotion tied in with the first movie and there were a TON of toys).

They range in quality - some are awesome.  Some... not so much.
