I selected a few figures with simple color schemes(Parthenon, Pentagon/Starface, & Bermuda Black Hole are almost done), but nevertheless I am spending way more time than I should trying to get these to look right.
I primed a few others with a coat of black acrylic, so I suppose there's no turning back now!
Will post pics of completed figures.

Get the really fine-point brushes like are sold for painting Warhammer figures. The paints sold for that purpose work very well on MUSCLEs.
Toothpicks work great to supplement brushes (or to use exclusively) if you need to paint really small areas. Dab them in a small amount of paint, and then just touch them to the surface to apply the paint.
I found it is convenient to select lighter colors for the indented areas, and then to apply darker colors on top of the lighter colors where there are protrusions. For instance, if you are painting a face, you could apply a light color to the entire face, and then add darker colors for the details like the eyeballs and mouth, etc.

New in the neighborhood, got some horribly grainy pics of my collection.
I plan to do some custom painting whenever I get more dups.
Welcome to the board! Muscles look so incredibly awesome when laid out like that.
