Hey everyone.

I've commissioned the amazing talent of Ed Gein aka Bryan Fulk about getting some of my character designs sculpted. Thinking about possibly submitting to OMFG series 4.

First up is Scorpion Girl, or Barbella. She was one of my ideas for OMFG back in series 2 submissions.

Hope you guys like her! I think he did a great job with her.
Jus.

Thanks man! I'm glad you like her. :) I hope she does get made either way, would be the first figure I've had a part in.

Nice  Yeh Ed Gein is sculpting my Grinade submission for the next round - he's talented to say the least. I haven't exactly 'commissioned' him though, more like he's just doing it as and when he can :)

Thanks dude! Ed Gein is seriously a one man army! What a machine. I've seen he's been working on quite a few omfg submissions and I have the dilemma of really liking all of them! By far not the least your groovy grinade guy.

That fig looks better than half of series 2. This should've won!

Very kind words Draznar, thanks man! I think there were a tonne of great designs that got overlooked in the submissions too.

Love both the character and the sculpt! If you submit again, I'm sure she'll have one of my votes.

That's awesome. I think her lips could look better, but she looks great overall. You should post your sketch too, maybe even in the submission for it. She has been in or close to my top 5 for the last two series now. It's cool to see her get a chance as a sculpted submission.

Thanks everyone for saying so! :give_rose:
Feedback helps me know if I'm on the right track, and who better to ask for feedback than the members here?
I can't really think of another board where people are more qualified, since practically everyone here collects mini figs.

Fkro6784- Awesome I'm glad you like her! Neclos fortress is very much influencing what I have in mind. Maybe not barbella so much, but the next 2 more so... Thanksfor the support man.

Iwao- thanks buddy, yeah you've always been a fan of hers which means a lot dude! I was unsure about the lips myself too, but I saw how in some photos the shading or something kind of makes her mouth look a bit skewiff... Will get a close up shot of her face so we can have a better look. Don't worry, if its in need of a fixerupperer I'm sure Bryan will tweak it! God knows he's tweaked her for me enough times already! Ha.

PlasticSoul- thanks a lot man, I'm a huge fan of your awesome work too!

FKRO6784- I'm sure you're gonna like what I have in store... It's still a few months off but hopefully I'll have some details I can confirm soon!

BIGAZZHEAD- thanks man! Yeah, there aren't many obviously female minifigs when compared to how many obviously male ones there are. Initially when I made this character it was because OMFG was in some people's eyes lacking a female character. There are others that think that we don't need obvious genders to minifigs.. And everyone's entitled to their opinions I guess.
I don't see it as a deciding factor and think if a figure looks good, it doesn't matter if its got balls or boobs.

I can confirm that the next figure figure Ed is working on for me will be ANOTHER female! Purely coincidental this time though.
Its a well known mythological monster but with my twisted take on it. :spiteful:

I like the figure, but to me it wasn't at all obvious that it is female. I didn't get that until I started reading through the thread.

Edit: If you revise the sculpt at all, you may want to accentuate some of her feminine features.

Haha, funny you guys mention that. I can appreciate a sculpt with big boobies as much as the next guy, but when I first saw the Barbella sculpt one of the things I liked about it right away is that it doesn't take the typical overly sexed-up direction that happens so often with female figures. I like that you might not notice it's a female on first glance. I think this quality would also help make it a more natural fit with the rest of the OMFG figures if it ended up getting chosen for the line.

Heres a close up shot of Barbella with much clearer details. I kind of feel her mouth looks good like this now that its easier to see!

Also I hear what some of you guys are saying about her not being so obviously female to spot, and I've kind of grown to like that too.
The next female figure is much more 'sexed up' like FKRO puts it, ha, and would never be mistaken for anything but female!
It might balance out to have some more overt characters and others a bit more ambiguous or mysterious.
I think wait and see how they fare next to one another and if need be, we can always make adjustments down the path.

As it stands though I just kind of leaning towards the scorpion girl aspect, and not scorpion lady so much... hahah.
We'll see but.. Thanks for the great input everyone!
