I just got a handful in (Thanks Eric!) and have some doubles, anyone up for some trades

I'm around half way there between what I had and what I just picked up.

I'm assuming these are rare metallic variants from series 8. They are gorgeous.

Very cool. I don't think I've ever seen Part 8 figures in metallic colors, but I have seen/owned a few Neclos figures in colors that aren't typical to their Part. For example, a Part 2 Shogun in Part 1 light blue, and a Part 5 Beast in clear green. Here's a pic--I included a gray Shogun to show that the one on the right is light blue and not gray.

Yeah I've noticed every now and then you find colors of figures that aren't from the normal ones you see around. I'm not sure if it's because they come different ways in the small boxes or the large boxes. And I've seen a handful of metallic figures from part 8, I sold a couple recently.

And unlike most toy lines colors don't effect price on neclos figures, At least not yet.

Most people probably just shoot to get each sculpt in any color they can rather than chasing after specific colors, since there's so many combinations and not a clear sense of how many each sculpt came in.

I'd love for there to be a comprehensive color guide for Neclos, but with these kinds of random variations that pop up, I don't know if it's possible. A while ago on my site I did add a list of typical colors to each Part's page. I couldn't really get more detailed than that.

A theory I've run across is that whatever color(s) was/were left unused from a previous series was used for a later series, and that is why we see them much less frequently. Series 7 has a good number that are metallic, and the leftovers were used for the very early production run(s) for series 8.

That would make sense. I wonder how far apart the production runs were. I have never been able to find specific release years. Does anyone know?

This website is great! Very helpful for tracking down each figure. Some of them resemble other characters from different games and toy lines. I especially like the little Barbarians, the Bushmen and the Headhunter. I just recently got the hero Alien, and it's very cute. He looks like the aliens from other 90's Japanese games.

A lot of the monsters, like the Beest, look like alternate universe MIMPS. Great for displaying them together.

I love this toy line, and I'm curious about how it was meant to be played.

The variety of characters and colors is wonderful, but collecting them all complete with their little cards is a real challenge. It's enough to keep a collector busy for a while.
