It looks to me as though the plating has been removed from the dots. If you remove the plating from a Xar, the entire figure is molded from that white plastic.

The plating doesn't look removed from the dots to me, they look in a good condition, but the plastic underneath on this one is red

Odd. I had one that was very scratched up, and it was white plastic.

They must have just molded him from whatever cheap plastic that was on hand, being as it was going to be plated anyway.

Yeah I have had some of the UK ones where the plastic underneath was the cloudy white.

Makes you wonder if it was regional, would all the pink ones be red plastic, or like you say just what was on hand. Maybe they just ran out of the white haha.
