Welcome to art contest 11. This contest covers all creatures not PROVEN to be real. Greek, Norse, Egyptian, Asian, Urban myth, Lovecraftian, ect. Any animal-like creature without human features, which would exclude centaurs, harpies, cyclops and others of that ilk. The creature(s) entered must also be wearing Battle beast/Lazer beast armor, either from a pre-existing charachter, or designed for the myth charachter. Hope it all doesn't sound too complicated.

This contest will start June 1st, and end on the last day of July.

Just a thought, do we need the "without human features" stipulation? That would technically rule out a whole lot, including such favorites as the Minotaur. Or are you just talking about human facial features?

just human heads. I dunno about humanoids like trolls, imps, goblins and such. their overall makeup is probably too human, but I wouldn't disqualify any entries with them.

Wow! I'm the the first to post an entry here!

Meet Judicious Jackalope, from Texas lore (and a few bored taxadermists), parts jackrabbit and antelope, sporting armor and staff of my own design, and two revolvers under his arms.

and a higher res greyscale:

Nice, any plans to color it or are you going to leave it be. Either way I like the style you used this time, a little more detail oriented than I'm used to from you, showing off some diffrent talent, good job.

I love it! When I was a kid I remember taking a trip out West and they had stuffed Jackalopes for sale at every gas station. I kept thinking, “What the eff are those things?”

I plan on doing a full finish on the jackalope. This was a 2-hour time-fill at work, that had been in the back of my head for months, and may face off against the Chuzzy Chupachabra from Mexico

It looks great. Like he is on sentry duty. Very alert. Plus, is that a Texas Ranger star on its armor?

Dave Coulier did the voice of "The Jackalope" on the show "Out of Control" for Nickelodeon in the late 80's and later on for small segments on the show "Americas Funniest People" in the early 90's. I think they had a contest to name the jackalope on AFP but I forget what his name ended up being.

okay, i've got an entry of sorts for this competition. i didn't get a chance to draw it a couple of more times and get the kinks out of it. i've got school in july and have to start doing my damn homework, so i won't have time to finish this. wanted to refine his feet and left arm, just ran out of time.

so anyway, here it is, my chaotic chimera. he's been mutated by the science and magic that created him. his left arm is an enormous claw but his left wing is deformed. i made him a laser beast because i think they're cool and never had one growing up, so now i do have one.

don't feel good about entering an incomplete drawing but really wanted to enter a contest.

*sigh*
So, keep just the "OMG-It's-Gorgeous" for now, uh? ^-^

Man, i took so long to get on this and i'm still only the third entry? Come on people, this is an awesome category!

Anyway, sketched this over the weekend and colored it tonight. Some of it got cropped off because i used larger than normal paper this time, and my scanner bed wasn't quite big enough. But it's the best scan i could get. smile.gif
