Wow, thank you so much fellas! This was just a pet project that I got a bit carried away with. Never expected such awesome feedback and compliments. I'm flattered you guys.
I forgot to mention, all up it cost me about $450 AUD in materials and spaced it out over a few weekends/week nights.
Did you make the cabinet or did you just happen to find the perfect one?
I made it from scratch since looking around for something was pretty fruitless. At least this way it fits them properly.
That's the most awesome mimp display ever
Thanks so much dude! That's a huge compliment. Tbh I haven't really seen that many MIMP displays out there other than in those lit up glass units, which are also nice.
That's pretty insane.
thanks man!
I believe he crafted it all by hand. I was looking at his progress pictures on Facebook.
Very, very nice work Justin. I am jelly of your crafting ability!
Yeah. I've been mostly on FB & IG lately.. thanks very much for the kind words bro, I just kind of made it up as I went along, haha. One of the benefits of helping my mum renovate over a couple of houses I guess.
The sign on top is just beautiful. Great work.
thanks bro! It was an afterthought that turned out to be a cherry on top, sorta haha
Wow, that is really awesome. Great work.
I wish I were in anyway handy with power tools................I am all thumbs when it comes to that stuff.
I was too man! I guess I've just picked up a few tricks along the way, but I wasn't super confident before I started or anything. I did plan it out all on paper first, and that helped me wrap my head around it. Thanks for the kind words also bud!
Wow that sign is incredible! Only thing I'd have done differently is I'd have had the MIMP Logo in yellow with a purple or blue background since those are the classic colors I remember from the packaging. And I've had included series 1-4 in the display. But that's just personal preference.
Is there plastic in front of the figures or is it just open? Hard to tell in these pics
Yeah, I got two acrylic sheets cut to size. Had a drama as they were too tall and would bow, buckling under their own weight.. I made some clips at first but it looked like shit so I ended up cutting wooden support strips and gluing em to either side of the acrylic sheets. Problem solved.
I really dig the yellow & purple combination too! I was tempted to do it that way but opted for a more simple/classy black/stain look. Mostly because of the background.. I actually made two backgrounds in the end. The first I started painting the MIMP volcano, split in half down the centre and divided by both backgrounds in halves. It looked pretty bad.. So, I did the same thing as my Fishtank and painted them black instead. Hence why I went with black for the sign lettering. I'm sure it would've looked ace in purple/yellow that tho.
Jeez that thing is awesome. Congrats on a master set too.
Thanks dude!! Stoked to have finally completed it, and have a lot of great guys to thank for helping me get there.
excellent work !!! it's a magnificent celebration for your 1000st post here !!
thanks a lot bro! Very kind words man. And a thousand posts? That's an awesome coinkydink.
This is absolutely incredible! Great craftmanship dude!
Thanks a lot man! It was a fun project.
