Try Cnet's downloads section for some free FTP programs.

However, I just started using the trial version of CuteFTP, and it is amazing! I highly recommend. I use it so often that I'll probably fork over the $40 to buy it.

I like WS FTP. I've been using it for years but haven't really tried any others

I just create an Ftp network place in windows. I am not sure of the (or if there are) limitations but it works for the stuff I do.

I've done that as well a few times myself, but I had problems linking to multiple servers. (My browser kept wanting to connect to the first server I had visited.)

Here's a site that provides directions for using your browser with FTP: Computer Knowledge

That actually sounds slightly different but maybe I am misunderstanding it. Its sounds like that method involves typing the url ftp directly into the browser address bar? I have actually never tried that. I just go to "my network places" (or "my computer" in vista) and use their wizard to set up a network (ftp) place. Once done, I just use that each time to connect to the desired site, and only need to enter my password. Of course, this method requires you to set up a network place for each ftp site you use.
