Newbie trying to get into little rubber guys

For some time now I wanted to get into rubber minis, but didn't really knew where to start. Now I found this forum and decided to ask for help of getting into the hobby.
A bit about me. I have grown up in Poland just after fall of communism and I had some (probably bootleg) rubber minis that I really liked. They are now long gone, but I would like get a bit of that nostalgia. I'm currently finishing my BFA in US (graphic design and new media) and I dabble in 3D printing. My end goal is to design and cast some rubber minis, but I am getting ahead of myself.
My big question is - where do I start? I don't have nostalgia for any particular brand of minis. I am thinking of getting some of new contemporary packs (like Super7 or OMFG that I have still seen on Amazon). I would love to get some vintage minis, but eBay prices seem really inflated. Are there any other places for buying the minis?
Also, I see some awesome indie minis (done by artists in small runs). I found only one or two by pure luck and would love to find more. What are some artist's/indie brands to follow?
...lastly: what do you collectively call those toys? I have seen kesi, muscle (other big brands), Minifigures. Is there a term I can Google to find more blogs and websites about this hobby?
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the community!
There's not really one unifying term for the figures: keshi, minifigures, little rubber guys, etc are all the broadest terms I've seen.
As far as where to research different toys, here are some of my favorite sites:
http://littlerubberguides.com/
minifigures.blogspot.com (although this one hasn't been updated in a few years)
https://nathansmuscl...g.blogspot.com/
I've also found that instagram is the best place to buy/sell/trade toys.

Thanks, will dig-in the websites you posted.
Yeah, instagram is how I found some artists who make their own mini figures. I am not huge on insta, but if that's the best place I will search a bit more on there.

I have a lot of extra stuff I'd be happy to sell. Mostly common stuff so I could get you a nice mix of different lines so you can get a feel for them all and see what you like best. Shoot me a message if you're interested. And I'd be happy to answer any questions too.
I respond a lot quicker on instagram too (sydot_toys)

Thanks!
I will hit you up on instagram later on, I am definitely interested in getting some commons to start the ball rolling!
Edit: can't seem to be able to DM you, I don't usually use instagram, so I will just PM you here.
