I got an itch to make a retrosaur in Sculptris, and this redonkulous tail-dragger is the result. The main inspiration was this guy:

Along with old standbys of out of date reconstruction like the Marx dinosaurs the Aurora T-Rex that was probably the inspiration for Devil Dinosaur, as well 50s-era paleoart in general.
My goal was to recreate a monster from pulp movies and questionably-researched dinosaur books, rather than an actual animal. A lack of feathers and the tail-dragging stance were obvious. I took my cues from Harryhausen and went with crocodillian scales, slit-pupil reptile eyes, and a lizard-y waddle under the jaw.
This design is available in multiple plastic and metal print options, as well as three full color sandstone color schemes: Mean Green, Ancient Fury (inspired by Primal Rage’s Sauron) and Upstart (inspired by Beast Wars Megatron).
