Just came across a post from a friend in japan that found out that the original Wanted Choujin Kinkeshi (Super Rares) were in fact sculpted in wood, not clay or wax.

 

That would make sense since they are all quite larger, thicker and chubbier than original kinkeshi.

I forgot, what was the overall significance of that set in the first place, why were they so different and "super rare"? I know there was something but it's been too long since I could recall.

Yudetamago held a contest early on to design new kinnikuman characters that would appear in the manga.
These figures were released by the company Amada, unofficially and in low numbers.
We got a handful of reccuring characters like Mammothman, King the 100t, Bikeman, Hawkman, Mr. VTR, Golem man, Super Phoenix, and Cannonballer from these fan submissions.
