Recently came across a post on Instagram from a Spanish collector showing the Battle Beasts Tiger* with at first glance glow in the dark details. Here: https://www.instagra.../p/C_klJx2NGIZ/

Luckily the description that came with the post was clear and it turns out that the details glow/reflect due to the use of an UV / Blacklight.

I´ve seen and learned quite a bit about the Beasts over time but my first reaction to this was ¨I´ll be dammed¨ lol and obviously had to test it myself.

Amazing, right?

Never knew about this and it´s an interesting gimmick that´s now ¨unlocked¨ because it are not only the Tigers that show this reflection but many more Beasts. Not surprisingly I also checked the Rabbits.

But there are many more and rather extreme ones like Brown Lion;

Wondered how he came to find out because there are days in my life I don´t shine a blacklight on every item I can think of but apparently he tried to use this blacklight / UV light in order to attempt to ¨Unyellow¨ a Clear Carp. That didn´t work but it resulted in this interesting discovery.

Guess if you´re a Battle Beasts collector it´s time to get yourself a Blacklight and find out yourself!

Might be an idea to get yourself some unique decoration just in time for Halloween lol

Enjoy the Beasts!

* The Tigers used here that glow/reflect, and also in the Instagram post from the Spanish collector, are the normal Common BB Tigers the BDC Version doesn´t seem to have this effect due to the use of a different paint.

I too saw that post in Instagram! Pretty cool stuff :)

I'm not familiar with how the UV light actually cause the neon colorization, like, is there other variables than base color hue/lightness, but gotta try this on my beasts and other figures if I ever buy an UV light.

https://science.hows...black-light.htm

It´s probably got something to do with the presence of phosphorous levels in the paint, or anything else within the paint that´s causing this.

There are rumors about the paint that´s used for the BB back in China and that they´re not really the most healthy ones when being applied so this might be related to this.

Been a long time since I've been on here, but I discovered something when moving my figures to a new room that really surprised me and I thought people might find interesting.  I have a long wave flashlight that I use to check for certain minerals in my rock collection and it happened to be next to my shelf I was moving my beasts to.  What I found was vast differences in color between my Japanese and American beasts and the variants that we've found over the years.

The first photo is Bloodthirsty Bison and the pink one is the dark purple variant.  Much different than the other two.  Second up is the short ear and long ear hares. The short is drastically a different color in the black light.  The Wolfgang Walrus has the color variant on the right.  The two on the left is the painted and unpainted tusks.  Odd that the tusks don't show up under the black light.  Even the laser beasts show differences.  It's hard to tell because the rhino got in the way of my light, but Rainbow Sam with the white eyes is on the left with a yellow body and Rainbow Sam without the white eyes has a magenta body.  What really shocked me was that even figures I thought were the exact same but they were from USA and Japan had major differences.  The left Sloth and left Hawk are USA and the right side is the Japanese.

I expected some variance with the variants but not the wide differences between national origin.  I essentially have 0 Spanish Bestias so now I'm going to have to track some of them down to see if they also are drastically different under the long wave light.
