Hi everyone. I’m not really familiar with this franchise but I was recently given a small figure of a blue cyclops that I think might possibly be of interest to some folks here. In the little information I was able to gather, it appears to be somewhat rare? Would anyone be able to tell me more about what I have?

Assuming it’s what collectors label the cyan color (some of the foreign figures come in a wider variety of colors), you have a promotional Cyclops. Unlike a number of promotional figures sourced from various promotions in the US and UK, cyan Cyclops is part of a set that is actually unknown in origin. No sealed copies or specific source have ever been identified. The only information ever found is that many were sourced from a seller getting them from a New Jersey arcade. There’s some old threads in here on those findings. It’s an annoying gap in MIMP knowledge.
Cyan Cyclops had a pink counterpart and forms a set with cyan/pink Jotun Troll and orange/pine green T-Rex and Hydra. All eight figures are pretty uncommon.

Thanks for that, BaltanII. What an interesting enigma! I’m located in New Jersey so that does line up. What’s even weirder is my friend literally pulled this out of a tree while taking a walk. Thing must’ve been on a pretty crazy journey lol

Blue cyclops is definitely a rare figure. So do your homework. He is the rarest of a handful of figures that are anecdotally called "New Jersey Arcade Premiums" which just happens to be the major source for most of these figures. It is very unlikely that these were created for some random boardwalk arcade in New Jersey (where matchbox HQ is incidentally). What is more likely is that they were overstock sold in bulk after the line died which the arcade likely picked up as cheap prize fodder. On Facebook a lot of the Mexican collector groups have been finding them in Mexico as well (no not Mexican Sonrics, actual "arcade premiums"). At least six blue cyclops and several pink Jotun trolls have been found in Mexico. Mexico receives a lot of overstock items as cheap toys as well. Which further supports that these premiums were sold as overstock instead of whatever promo they were originally created for.
As another example I have both battle belts from a toy line by moose toys called mutant mania. Moose toys went on record in an email stating that the belts were never produced. But the truth is that they were never officially released. I purchased both belts from, you guessed it. An overstock, liquidation warehouse.
