Can anyone explain the FoA series to me?

I've seen Series A, B and C. I've seen images where characters are split to A, AB , C.
Did characters on Series A only appear on A and AB on both A and B? Was there no B exclusive characters?
Is there a comprehensive list on which character was in which series?

Thanks, but the end result is the same. Neither link provide details on the sctual series. The one with Series A B and C doesn't clarify what they mean and not all figures are included.

So, series A and B are both pretty common, but Yes!Toys went out of business.
The unreleased figures and whatever stock didn't get bought by Giochi Preziosi for Exogini Terza 3 wound up in Japan.
Series C was exclusive to Japan. They got a second life over there, doubling the number of space ships and Sciroids.

The TL:DR is, Series A and B came out within a month or two of each other in the United States.
Repurposed figures later showed up in Italy, but the Series C sculpts only got released in Japan.
