I started this topic for a couple of reasons.

1-I have documented proof of my playing with my figures for nearly 200 videos on my youtube channel. So I have much feedback that is worthwhile to share.
A- Standability-how easy a figure stands up on his own.
B- Wrestlebility- how enjoyable a figure enhances the imaginary wrestling matches.
C- Safety-I will not give feedback since I see no harm, but obviously any figure can be seen as a choking substance or bad influence of character.
2-I have always felt that the playability has been overlooked for a # of reasons.
A- M.U.S.C.L.E.s are now considered to be seeked by only collectors.
B- Simply put, M.U.S.C.L.E.'s did not do much as toys without a lot of imagination by the owner. "they make GoBots look like a impossible puzzle"
C- It is the natural course of their toy life to be looked at in other aspects of their nature and rightly so.
3-Perhaps as we discuss, we may intrigue new collectors to focus on these figures.
A- Many children of the 80's generation will and have inherited these figures.
B- Determining if a figure is in mint condition requires playability. Though that does not carry much weight when dealing with M.U.S.C.L.E.s, it would be nice to avoid a figure that does not stand on his own, when it gets determined his sculpt can.
C- Playing with M.U.S.C.L.E. figures is what won the hearts of the majority of the owners when Mattel originally released them in the 80's.

I am working on a chart that will be posted shortly. This will help this topic really get going.

Standability-The ability of the figure to stand by itself...on its designated feet or bottom.

Alright of the 233 figures from the poster in my set, I broke down them in 2 main categories.

211 figures are good stand up guys. *1
22 figures are not good stand up guys. *2

I am well aware that many figures standability is faulted because of extra material present on the feet, or legs that needed to be bent back to improve the figures' standability.

*1 #15 Is the Best stand up figure of the whole set.

*2 #107 & #195 are the two worst(in fact they cannot stand without assistance. However in the playoffs, #195 can spin in place, while #107 cannot. Therefore making #107 the worst standup figure of the set. Coincidence all of these figures are sunshines...I think not.

To avoid alot of number input...I will list which figures of mine do not stand up with ease.
NOT GOOD STAND UP GUYS
#s are .... 4,9,18,39,40,48,62,65,103,107,108,127,129,131,132,148,161,180,186,189,195,203

Here is a short video that delight most of us for a little while.
It is sure to be a instant classic...as in its 1st hour of existence has grouped 50 views.
Would love feedback and suggestions to allow me to enhance this video in the future.
Keep in mind I can add #s that will only be seen on youtube, which is a tactical way to get people to watch on youtube.
ENJOY!
M.U.S.C.L.E. Family Tree
P.S. I made this video while I determined which figures could stand. Then I gave them a second try, off camera, to solidify my decision on a completely flat and leveled surface unlike the curved surface that is shown on camera. If the figures fell over after what seems like a descent attempt to stand them, then they were tossed in the no good standup guy category.

M.U.S.C.L.E.s are a collector's dream toy. At first glance it would be hard to sell to kid that a toy figure without any moveable parts is more fun then a figure with moveable parts. However to the trained eye of a child, who has seen toys of all sorts enter his playground, will quickly point out that toys that move are toys that break. If a collector can actually get away with being able to play with a expensive rare figure without fear of damaging the figure, makes possessing M.U.S.C.L.E.s all the more fun, unlike G.I.Joe figures whose black small rubberbands holding the figure together at the hip, snap easier as age increases.

So here is another wierd twist of M.U.S.C.L.E.s that less is more!

Just thought I'd share me and my son doing what he does best with the cheap figures from the bootsale.

He loves the MIMP the best, but when he is getting a new LRG every week he likes the newest the best.

At the moment his favourite are Neptune king and a peyo smurf and wolf from MIMP

Anyway as you can see the giant wwf fella is about to come out and go crazy and the bishop fish and mummy are just about to jump the neptune King.

Sorry to waste your time viewing this thread. just to let you know that these old/vintage/classic toys do get played with.

He also has a Cylon. :teehee:

I am also concluding the M.U.S.C.L.E.'s simplicity in todays age of tech-nology nvelties, makes M.U.S.C.L.E.s ideal for computer desktop statues. Which eventually leads to playing by either the PC user who is waiting at their desk for a download completion or something. Or a young visitor like a child or another's kid under watch.

And with M.U.S.C.L.E. being implementing into the Kinnikuman storyline, their will be a discovery of the enjoyment and security of M.U.S.C.L.E.s hardiness that the flexible kinnikumans lack.

Indeed, and on top of being hard to break as collector toys I realised one very, very nice part is since they're small, shiping wise they're pretty cheap to come by, even in big lots. As a guy from canada you often find toys overseas or in the US and often pay hefty shipping M.U.S.C.L.E are pretty welcomed.

As for my vote I put "I did" althought collecting them, sorthing them, cleaning them and trading is still pretty close to play with them :woot:

Divide & conquer works because of attachments people make to push-button issues, individual "leaders," parties, clans, tribes, policies, or agendas, leaving them open to manipulation.
