I'm absolutely dumbfounded at least by his starting bid. Who in the whole entire world would spend 5 grand on this thing? :D

VEERS PUTS ON HIS USER HAT
I had it written up last night and set to post at 8AM. :D

Truthfully, I don't want to make the Auction Watches negative. I've tried to make a conscious effort to highlight positive things and good opportunities, but I also have to take a realistic look at what is "out there."

My first thought was just to spotlight Alex's auction, but when I saw DiplomatX's famous "Magenta Claw" the natural theme was unavoidable.

I have to admit I am completely dumbfounded by Alex's $5K price tag. I have to admit, about a year ago I told Alex a similar price for my SR – just because I had to see if he was crazy enough to pay it. I would have sold it, because that's just too much money for a stupid toy.

Even Alex had a limit of $2500 – which I think is certifiably insane. To be fair, it's probably equally insane that I didn't sell it. But in my defense I was'’t dying to sell it and didn't need the money.

VEERS PUTS ON HIS MOD HAT
Just so we are all clear - please don't turn this into a bash Alex thread. He's banned and we know why. At the same time we don't have to pretend he doesn't exist. We'll be walking a fine line, so let's think before we post. Thanks!

Hey guys, no links to Alex's auctions or anywhere else he is selling stuff. Period.
The only exceptions would be to warn against a possible scam, which the previously listed auction is not. It's just an insane price.

I think he just put it up to see if someone would bite. You never know, some newb might go for it. It wouldn't be the first time someone paid 5 times the going value for a rare toy. :)

I've no knowledge of the person in question, though I've read the UofM article. What I'm wondering, (perhaps the experts can enlighten us) is how likely that this figure is genuine. The incredible scarcity of super rares really makes me wonder if its perhaps a Kinkeshi pictured, but correct me if I'm wrong.

If somebody is nuts enough to pay $5000 for this then they deserve to be ripped off. That some of them go for $1000 normally is in itself insane in my book.

Considering the seller is a known horder for Super rares it wouldn't surprise me if he had more then he was letting on up front.
For a guy who puts the fanatic in fan I just don't see him selling one unless he at least had a double to keep for himself

Frankly it's annoying how he practically has a monopoly on them.
