I seems to me that Gormiti figures "evolve" as each new set comes out. Meaning you start with original characters, and next set they are the same characters, but they look a little different and have different "powers", yet look similar to their old body form.

Does this happen, or do they just like to make new characters look like old ones?

Some of the characters definitely remain the same and end up with new forms, but that is not what happens in every single set. When you have groups of figures maintaining a consistent theme, similarities are going to crop up. Totally depends on the Gormiti set and character in question.

Do you mean the atomic repaints? I'm sure the main reason they do this is because it's far more easy to repaint previous molds and give them a gimick like color changing or transparent plastic rather than come up with entirely new molds.

Not entirely sure what your question is, exactly.

Kolossus (http://ecx.images-am...L500_AA280_.jpg) and his atomic version (http://www.tusgormit... - KOLOSSUS.jpg) are both still the same character, not just look-alikes. There are some Gormiti who look a lot like each other (there's two frog Gormiti in the Water Tribe) but there are plenty of differences in the design to be able to tell them apart, plus they have different names.

Basically, if they have the same name, they're the same character, even if they're of a different color or mold. The only set I know that changes the mold of existing characters is the Cartoon series, which should be the next to come out in the US. It consists mostly of characters from the first two series (like Lethal Whip, Hawk the Silent, etc.) but with entirely new sculpts and colors to match their designs from the show.

Hope that helps and I didn't just confuse you more. :)

Final Evolution?

I really couldn't tell exactly what he meant either, but I took it to refer to the Cartoon and Final Evolution series, where you have the same characters in entirely new molds. I also recall being confused when we first saw them as to whether the guys in Elemental Fusion and Supreme Eclipse were new characters or reinterpretations of existing characters. Some of the designs in Eclipse in particular seemed derivative.

Oh yeah, and Final Evolution. I think he was confused as to whether the sculpts in Cartoon and FE were new versions of existing characters or new characters that just looked similar. I remember seeing the Mythos figures for the first time and thinking all the Air Tribe looked identical, so I can relate.

I guess a good rule of thumb is to learn their names. Lethal Whip is Lethal Whip, even if he is in a different pose/color.

What's the Cartoon Lethal Whip on the far right? One of those exclusives that you've pointed out before?

Does your camera have a "macro" mode on it? Using a timer helps prevent shake too.

I don't have much of a steady hand, but I do have a little mini tripod which helps a lot. They're fairly cheap at electronics stores. On the tripod with a 2 sec timer virtually eliminates shake for me.
