I just got back from walmart and notice a new section of toys for the upcoming Dreamworks movie 'How to train your dragon'. There was quite an assortment, everything from playsets and battlegear,to the more conventional figures varying in sizes.

The varying sizes of figures looked pretty good, but one niche caught my eye. The 'Dino Magic' like figures. Packaged as 'Dragon Eggs',they are exactly the same premise. Dip and fizz the egg til you get a few parts to construct a dragon. There are Commons,Rares and Ultra Rares.

I went ahead and got the walmart exclusive volcano (comes with 1 egg) and 1 dragon egg.
I fizzed them and got a couple cool ones. The clear blue one is an Ultra Rare, and the green one is a Rare. Overall I like these alot. I HOPE THE MOVIE IS AS GOOD AS THE TOYS. smile.gif

They're actually re-released versions of the Dragon Magic figures, but in new packaging and without the super-rare Dragon Hunter figure included anymore. The giant-ass thread is still around.

Yeah, I saw these too when snagging my Iron Man figs. All of the dragon toys looked pretty awesome! I hope the movie is cool as well. I was wondering about these fizz dragons though. I noticed that none looked like the in movie dragons on the backer cards, and they were made by Moose.

I noticed these today and was just about to post about it, i took pictures and everything too! Such an odd re-use of a toyline. Especially since, as URS said, the dragons bear no resemblance at all to anything in the movie.

Spin Master, which distributes the Moose toylines (now?), is the one doing the movie's figures. Kinda makes sense that what looks like a cheap movie toyline - it's all exclusive to Walmart, if that tells you anything - also includes a cheap reuse of existing product/designs.

The rarer Dragon Magic figures were supposed to be incredibly hard to find, so the silver lining is that this gives those with incomplete collections a new shot at finishing and perhaps better odds.

So they are the exact same colors, and paint applications? They may have new trademarks.

Yes. The only trademark I recall is "Moose" so, doubt any differences.

New here so pardon my lack of pic/sig/everything. Wish I'd found this place sooner XD

Got some of these today since me and the boyfriend collected the original dragon magic eggs and were hoping to round out our collection a bit.

First of all the plastic seems more rubbery or floppy than the original editions. I think they changed the plastic composition a tad. Second, one of the four we got had Bruin the dragon hunter in it. Very confusing since he isn't on the package anywhere. XD

You'd think that but the boyfriend was ticked that one of his wasn't a dragon. XD
