Hello all!

As you may have noticed, the board has been having a few issues lately with uptime. Turns out that the main drive which hosts the server operating system and the web files is starting to go out. Now, I can definitely go out and buy another standard drive to put in it, but what I would really like to do is put in a snazzy new Intel SSD in as the main drive.

This would speed up the server considerably as well as protect against future drive failure (since there are no moving parts). However, I am not about to spend $415 plus tax to replace the main drive, when I can go pick up a standard drive for $100 or less at the local computer store (Fry's).

This is where you guys come in. If you are feeling generous and would like to contribute to the server fund, you can paypal me a personal payment to jkaris@kinnikuman.com

If we get within the target amount, I will go ahead and order the new SSD drive. If not, I will set aside the funds for server improvements.

If, however, we manage to go over and above the target amount. I will also set aside the excess funds for server improvements.

So, if you donate, you can be confident that your donations will go specifically to improving the server's hardware (and maybe software).

And if no one donates, oh well. I'll just slap a basic drive in there.

I am being bad and cross posting here. But this is for a good cause. I am selling some MIB's to help drive some money in for the Board. %100 of the money will go to jkaris and the board. None will go to me. So if you want to get some figures and help out the board as well. Here is your chance.

I had considered RAID-1 initially, but the server is backed up nightly, so I opted for just a single drive. Someday I would love to go RAID-5 though. That is what I have set up on all the servers here at the office.

On an update note, we have raised almost the entire amount. I am going to order the drive now, in anticipation that we will get a few more donations to put us over the top.
