I received this m.u.s.c.l.e figure today a #117 Red. It still has a piece of the molding attached to its head. Not a lot - about 5mm.
I was just wondering if anyone else has had one or ones similar? I have been collecting m.u.s.c.l.e figures for about 5 years now and this is the first one I've come across.

Simply a Manufacturing Error Figure, which looks like it was poorly cut from the molding. Look at other #117's, that's where the plastic spur connected.

If you can take a better picture I'd love to add it to UofM!

So there are not that many about then?

Sadly, the pictures on UofM aren't a good measure of the quantity or frequency of these figures.

My feeling is that there are (and were) more of these than we think. But most people don't bother to take a picture or "fix" the figure. Most people probably would have snipped the tip off that figure. I also remember people talking about extra flashing on the feet of figures and just about everyone said to use an Exacto blade to trim it off.

Of course, it seems like there has been some extra value placed on these of late. I've seen lots of, what I would consider, ridiculous prices for things that did not sell and even some high prices for things that did. I hope you don't take offense, but the ones that did sell were more interesting than yours. At least that's my opinion. :unknw:

Thanks again for the information. I'm not bothered about the value just interested in how common they were/are and a general interest in them so the info is helpful thanks.

Here's the pictures as promised - hope they are okay for you and your site :)

Thanks for adding the picture of a similar figure Ericnilla. That's nice to see!

Weird coincidence - I have a red roller-chest man with the exact same injection error. Identical. Was there something going on in one of the factories for a while involving roller chest man and the colour red?

Food for thought.

No just a factory worker not wanting to use
their box cutter to close to the figure on the tree,or just :lazy: on the job.

'On Sale' or 'For Sale'. It's really the same thing! The word, 'Sale' means YOU CAN BUY IT,
not that it is discounted. We as consumers are conditioned to think"On Sale"means it's cheaper.

I used to work in plastic molding and those are the runners that just did not get clipped off. It means a lazy person. LOL
I actually have two of those, one is a claw # 153 of course and the other is a ring announcer # 162. The ring announcer looks like alfalfa...:D
