Recently, I managed to win this auction on eBay:

I dunno what was wrong with the photo, but those two pink figures were completely ordinary salmon MUSCLEs. But ignoring them, the remaining three figures are perfect Frankenstein bootlegs! One of them is even "new" in that I haven't seen that combination before, and I doubt the rest of us have - there's nothing on UofM. I also grabbed the other Frankenstein/Unique bootlegs I have from my modest collection for some photos.
My camera seems to have trouble with red, orange, and white. I had to get creative with the backdrop (my phone case worked) and lighting (natural lighting with intentional shade) to get most of them to come up right. Anyway, I shall start with the auction pieces! As there are a lot of pics, click on the links to see them.
The whole gallery is here: http://i5.photobucke...USCLE bootlegs/

This little red guy is actually slightly darker than most red MUSCLEs - a little brownish. It's got the body of Rikishiman and the head of The Ninja. It also has a metric ton of flashing, but it stands pretty well. The plastic is a little harder than MUSCLE plastic, but surprisingly good quality. The Frankensteins generally are good in that respect.

This orange fellow is fairly common among frankenstein bootlegs. I even have another in gray, shown here for comparison purposes. Its body is that tiger guy from the first movie, and PART of its head is the Gold Mask. Note that the back of its head is the same as tiger-dude's, which is kind of cool as far as it concerns the effort that went into making it. The orange piece is somewhat smaller than the gray one, and their plastic is not the same. The gray figure's plastic is slightly harder, although they are nearly identical - Orange bootleg is really, really close to MUSCLE plastic. Orange has some flashing on the soles of its feet that make it harder for it to stand, although not impossible. Also, it is a darker shade than the orange MUSCLEs, somewhere between that and Kinkeshi-orange. It doesn't quite show up in all of these photos.

Now, THIS one is unique! It seems a little dusty, although I cannot tell if it's from the previous owner, or merely the plastic. Its plastic quality is identical to the red bootleg, and it tends to fall back when stood up. The mold is a combination of Robin Mask's body and the head of Ashuraman's father. You can actually see how this figure was Frankensteined - whereas the previous MUSCLE's head inconsistency suggests that they changed the mold, this one seems as though they cut the head off one figure, glued it onto another, and cast a mold from that. Note how the Ashura head is a little crooked, suggesting that the cut was uneven. Its back faces are also somewhat messed up from the same process. The figure is surprisingly smaller than the original, especially considering that the Robin sculpt was one of the taller ones.

And now for OTHER BOOTLEGS:

Hello, little knockoff fellow! This is not a strict MUSCLE bootleg, in that it is an original sculpt. It's got some similarities to Flasher Balloon, though, in the legs as well as head. The poor guy is kind of flat, its rubber is a little soft (though not Kinkeshi-soft), and it has trouble standing. Its sculpt is also very "2D," and looks weird from the side.

With the same plastic and standing issues as the ball, this little ski mask guy is completely unique. Interestingly, the ejection marks in both sculpts are in the front, not the back.

Semi-painted bootlegs are nothing new. In fact, I even have a lot with several on its way in. The sculpt is interesting - this is an exact replica of jacket-wearing Buffaloman, EXCEPT for the horns. One horn is broken, but the head sculpt did not come from any of the broken-horned Buffaloman figures. The cut is too clean to have come from an actual break in the figure, which means that somebody just decided to block off part of the horn when it was made. Or perhaps they didn't inject enough plastic. Anyway, the rubber is very Bootleg-ish. Stiff yet flexible, feels kind of cheap.

I had to really use some creative shading to get this figure's details to show up. It is very, very, very white. Stiff, glossy plastic, and the helmet spike is cut off. Safety issue, or not enough plastic in the mold? It stands all right, at least.

This one was the hardest to photograph. It is roughly the same color as MUSCLE Orange, for reference sake. It's also the smae size as the original MUSCLE (there is a difference, but it's miniscule). The copyright has been scratched off and replaced, and the figure's plasctic is harder than MUSCLE plastic. it feels sturdy, but it's not as flexible. The other difference is subtle, but the reason why I included it - the sculpt has been altered from the original! This Robin's head faces forward instead of to the side, and its arms are positioned differently, as well. Why would they change such a small detail? Who knows! The figure also cannot stand on its own, as the feet are at an odd angle.

Here is a bootleg from the Hell Missionary kinkeshi. A few things stand out immediately about this one. one is that it is made from good-quality rubber, VERY close to that of reissue Kinkeshi (particularly the capsule ones from the early 2000s), which makes it more durable than the original keshi. The sculpt is smaller, suggesting that they cast it directly from the original - it caught good detail, too. In fact, this description really almost completely matches reissue Kinkeshi, so why did I include it here? The color is not Kinkeshi orange, and the copyright was half-scratched off in the back. It is an oddity in that it's such high-quality, though. If you carried this figure in one pocket and the original keshi in another, this one would hold up to more wear and tear.

Well, there you go! I hope this helps the study of MUSCLE and Kinkeshi bootlegs! I have others, but none of them are very "unique."

If I ever get a single Ashuraman with Terri-bull's head, I'll rejoice, heh heh.

But i dunno if these bootlegs come in flesh.

I used to own the Buffaloman/Ashuraman hybrid, which is easily the coolest of the Frankenboots I've seen so far. Mine was in red, I believe, and I've never seen it in another color, but that doesn't mean much of anything.

Also a fan of the "Ashura-loman;" I have in him in dark green, and have seen him in red, orange, and brown, though not flesh as of yet.

In fact, I have yet to see any of the Franken-keshi in flesh. Have any of those been documented?
