Hello, everybody!
It's been a while. It's nice to see the board is still up and running and, despite my prolonged absence, everybody has kept their enthusiasm for LRGs.
I certainly haven't lost my love for the art of collecting LRGs, however tough times have somewhat forced my hand and I need to part with the centerpiece of my collection.
I decided to bring this here, first, because I'd feel much better about this piece going to a new home where it will be fully appreciated for what it is.

Cue, Dr. Bonbe.

What is the most interesting to me about him, is that he has the all familiar blue flecks present on his shoulder. This leads me to believe that he was included in one of the M.U.S.C.L.E. 4-packs, although this belief is entirely speculative. The picture attached has several familiar figures included, for the purpose of color comparison.

And here is his back, with the proper copyright markings:

And a closer shot, note his left shoulder for the blue flecks:

I will be happy to answer any further questions that you may have.

I never really liked blowing my trumpet about stuff like that. I have a SatanCross, too... But I will be keeping that one, ha ha
It's good to be back, too!
I'm really impressed with the new board, not to mention all of the research you guys have put into M.U.S.C.L.E.S.
It's really something else.

I'm convinced about him!

So is this a board auction then?

If you're taking offers then I may aswell start my bidding at $500 as I am sure it will get there.....and beyond!

If it's a board auction, any T's & C's? End Date etc?

Thanks
John

Glad to be back!

As far as an board auction, I'll want to look into how that is done around here, so that I can proceed in a manner that is both fair to all, and respectful to the board.

hey its been awhile, glad to see you back. :)

and auctions on the board are easy. just start a new thread and list a starting bid, bid increments, preferred payment type and a closing date and time. all bids have to be posted in the thread. then anything else you wanna add.

Recommend something like Veers did. To prevent snipers (like me), have a rule that if there is a bid within such and such a time left, the auction automatically goes through another 24 hours.

Also, do yourself a favor: Don't end it at 11:59pm any standard time. End it at a time and day that is reasonable from west coast to east coast.

Also, I'll ask the elephant question in the room, how did you get this figure?

you can always put a high buy out price as well... or make it so you can end it at any time and accept an offer once its to a certain price.

I think it would be a HUGE mistake to not let this auction run its course.

I was actually hoping that I would get a chance to discuss this with everybody, hence my original post being in the main M.U.S.C.L.E. forum:

I have actually had this figure for years, probably about two after i started posting on this forum. I am the only person I know that collects these that I know, personally, so anytime a birthday would roll around? I would get a grocery bag with various batches of M.U.S.C.L.E.S and various knock-offs. One year, a friend of mine (::POSSIBLY IMPORTANT FACT ALERT:: ) from rural central Ohio gave me a coffee tin full of them that he'd had since he was a kid. As far as I know, he grew up in central Ohio... Meaning, that they were probably purchased at a retail outlet here. Anyhow, I got it home, and looked through the contents of this coffee tin, only to find a figure that I didn't recognize. Time passes, and the figure gets identified on this board. Naturally, I pee my pants, and have had it locked away in my collection ever since.
Honestly, if life hadn't thrown me a curve ball, I probably would never have mentioned it...
Be that as it were, I was the most interested in the historical value of the figure. Can't really talk about it, without blowing the lid off of my ownership of said figure. But, here we are: I need to sell it. Now that the cat is out of the bag, I would like to examine to possibility that this figure may have come out of a 4-pack purchased in central Ohio. I think, if that is the case, it could answer some questions involving the origins of the super-rares.

As for the auction, what time do YOU GUYS think would be the most fair to all parties, to end it?

Very cool story you have. Reminds me of Stoney's story on how he found his Purple Claw.

Take a look at Veers' work on the SR story.

My opinion for time, end it during the weekend, and later in the evening EST (between 8-9pm). That should cover all standard times in the U.S. You're still giving people in other countries a chance to bid too, by having a rule that it restarts another 24 hours if someone "pinhead bids" within a certain period of time close to end (say three hours). This might drag out the auction, but I think it would be worth it.

Very nice. Veers, good work. I don't know if the tell-tale blue flecks mean anything, but I was hoping that they would.

Edit: Also, I will absolutely take all of the suggestions about how to handle the auction under strong advisement.
I think I'd like to start the auction tomorrow evening, and perhaps end it Saturday evening, with a small window. Does that sound fair, for all interested?

Wowzers! That certainly is an amazing item. Looks like a true MUSCLE Thing figure as well. I will definitely bid, but I will not be able to afford $500. But good luck to all and I am sorry that you have to part with this little treasure in the first place.

i hope all is well,

Yes, but still strongly recommend the "pinhead/antisniper rule."

Licking chops!!!! Ha, I can name several people who would want a piece of this action, :woot:
I think doing a board auction to keep it in the family would be a good idea as EGay would also fetch hefty fees
for the price that it would end up going for. You will save by not doing that as there are many big ballers myself included who
might put a bid on this. Get the check book out fellas!!! Let's see who has the deepest pockets. ;)

How many SR's for the year does this make now Bill?
