Final Fantasy X-2, the first direct sequal of any FF game, is a "love it or hate it" game- it's totally different, totally unique, and you have to like it to, well, like it. Anyway, aside from that fact, this is the game that Vegnagun is from.
Vegnagun is the name of a top-secret weapon made by the city of Bevelle when it was at war with the city of Zanarkand 1,000 years ago. However, they realized that it was too powerful, and promptly hid it under the city (why they didn't dismantle Vegnagun, nobody knows). Vegnagun resembles, basically, a gigantic robotic insect. By gigantic, I mean possible bigger than Godzilla. It has the power to destroy the entire world... and spooks easily (no, really. The thing has a tendency to run away if it thinks that it's in danger). A main thrust of the plot of FFX-2 involved Vegnagun being found, and activated. Anyway, vegnagun is the "Hidden" figure in volume 4, which means that A: it's rare and usualy expensive, and B: it looks VERY good.
Sculpt: Vegnagun's sculpt is one of the most outstanding of the entire line. Its base is NOT the usual "swirling energy" thing that we're used to from this line, but rather is a cross section of the H.R. Giger-esque chamber underneath Bevelle that Vegnagun was kept in- with enough attention to detail kept that cou can count the ridges on the floor. Vegnagun itself is perched on an outcropping, looking coiled up- about to launch itself into the air. its enormous wings are fabulously detailed, and actually shummer in the light. Vegnagun itself resembles something out of H.R. Giger, and carries a pretty majextic grace about it. Also, the sculpt is made from soft, flexible plastic, so there's little chance that Vegnagun's skinny legs are going to breka anytime soon (good). It doesn't come in very many pieces, but getting Vegnaguna ttached to its base is pretty complex- there are no fewer than seven connection points, most of which involve the legs.
Paint Job: Vegnagun is mainly gold, with some green highlights. As previously stated, the wings are outstandingly beautiful. Vegnagun's base is mainly a dark, earthy green, with a golden orb highlighted at the bottom. Vegnagun's face is also very well-detailed, and there's a small black wash over the entire figure to show off the really excellent sculpt.
Articulation: None really, unless you cound the ability to twist it at the head or tail (when not attached to its base).
Accessories: Mine came with the candy that they're supposed to come with! (When ordering on-line, usually the seller keeps the candy). It's weird, and very, very sour. Anyway, there's also Vegnagun's card, which looks pretty.
Pricing: Here's the problem. Vegnagun can cost you anywhere from $20 to $47.95. Either one is overpriced, but $20 is actually palatable. And no, I did not pay $47.95. Don't be ridiculous.
GOtGM (1-10): (edit)0. (EDIT) Well, I pulled a little experiment, and the average female response is: A: "Wow, it's beautiful!" and "Where can I get one? it's gorgeous!" That's a good sign.
Overall: As Is: 4.9 out of 5. Adjusted for price: 4.3 out of 5. Vegnagun is really one of the best figures in the entire line, but its price is INSANE! Heck, I'd expect it to be made of pewter, or something...
Anyway, here are some pics!
