Ok, guys and gals here is your offical Battle Beasts Tournament. Run by WhiteLeo and CCVegita. He is going to give me a had with the tournament. I wanted to get the ball rolling so I am posting the very first one.

1 - 1Posted ImageVS. 16 – 28Posted Image

Ok, if you haven't noticed I am 100% the biggest fan of Pirate Lion. Not only is he the leader of the Battle Beasts he looks great in an eye patch. :) I do like the Crusty Crab however. He looks very menacing with his huge claw but all and all I have to go for my favorite White Leo!!!!

Crusty just looks..well, crusty! He is an ugly figure to begin with, even more so next to White Leo (the figure... Crusty Crab is actually better looking than White Leo, the board member :) )!

To me, Pirate Lion is like the David Beckham of Battle Beasts. I'm sick of hearing about how great they both are. Yeah Pirate Lion is the leader, and the most recognized, or what-have-you, blah blah blah... but come on, there are way better sculpts in this line. If not better, then at least equal. I've always though of P.L. as being the most generic idea in the BB line. There is nothing really that makes him stand out. I personally like the figures with some kind of funked up hand like Rocky Rhino or Run Amuck Duck. Gives them more of a battle ready feel I suppose. I also like the figures that are not so obvious like Slasher Seahorse or Tanglin Pangolin.

For me its Crusty Crab. The large face and no head, the odd weapon, the claw, the scales... It's just more creative I think.

I would have to bet that if they ever made a mate for Pirate Lion, it would be made of less synthetic material than Beckhams wife. :)

I only recently began collecting Battle Beasts for serious, and i admittedly have only hazy memories of them from when i was a kid. The one i remembered every detail of though, and the one that was the lingering spark that always made me want to start a real collection, was Crusty Crab.

The aquatic Beasts in general are my favorites, and Crusty Crab in particular. I like the colors and the texture of the figure...every detail is great, from his huge claw to the spikes to his creepy mouth parts.

I know Pirate Lion is a huge favorite amongst the community, and probably the one iconic figure of the line, but he just doesn't really do it for me. The colors are a bit boring, the sculpt doesn't sport the extra little details that a lot of them do, and his mane really needs some work. Probably the best thing he's got going for him is his weapon.

My vote goes to Crusty Crab, no doubt about it.

:) :D

My vote goes to Pirate Lion. He is just way cooler than the Crab. Plus I never really liked the Crab,he looks too weird. The Big claw on his left hand is his only saving grace, but it's not enough to beat a Lion whose a PIRATE !

Is Crust Crab gonna have to choke a ......

Thats always how it went down during playtime in years gone by. That large claw was great for choking out opponents.
Two strong figures from the get go, awesome.

Wow we jump right into another tournament. I went with the Crab. I am sick of Lions. Just kidding. Lion. I don't think there is anything generic about this lovely piece of art. Albino Lion. Check. Pirate eye patch. Check. Spikey shoulder pads. Check. Blades on his forearms. Check. Sweet blue and orange armor. Check. Wicked awesome sword. Check. Check.

Pirate Lion is taking this one for me, not only do I think his sculpt is better...but I also have to go with his weapon sculpt...so many of the BB have the stupidest weapon sculpts which will play a huge role in my voting. :)

Sorry, Leo... I had to go with Crusty. I love the texture of his shell, his Predator-like mandibles, and super-awesome Claw of Doom TM. I also dig his groovy orange and brown color scheme. It's very much like the color combination you'd see on wallpaper from the 70s.

Pirate Lion is pretty awesome, though. He's probably the most "heroic" looking BB, with a great red, white, and blue color scheme. Also, his sword is pretty sweet.

But I have to go with the arthropod on this one. My vote goes to Crusty!

I don’t collect Battle Beasts, and honestly know very little about them. That certainly doesn’t stop me from having an opinion.

The lion figure strikes me as simple a clean. I would say the major flaw is the lion’s mane. It looks more like slicked back hair. This seems like a major flaw since the most identifiable trait of a lion is the mane.

The crab looks very cool. It has a very crustacean feel (I don’t know if that’s the right adjective). The major flaw on this figure is the mouth. It looks like a tooth filled vagina. I think it would have been better to have a smaller mouth, or maybe even unpainted.

My vote goes to the lion.

The lion's hair is slicked back from the blood and sweat of battle. It keeps it out of his eye as he hacks other beasts (like the crap, I mean crab) to pieces.

I agree completely, i had ahandful of Battle Beasts as a kid and i always loved Crunchy Crab, that big claw looked pretty devastating. Although i never had the Lion, i always remeber him as a figure i would have wanted, he looks cool with his eyepatch and all (but then i had another figure with an eyepatch and a hook who was even more piratey, Arrrrrgh! I hope he shows up cause i loved him - i think you know who i'm talking about)

I voted for Crumby Crab, although i always wondered why his eyes was just like a little tv screen, hmmm :)

I am surprised, I voted for the crab. The more I looked at it the more I saw how well they sculpted the figure. Me being from Baltimore, we eat crabs all the time (MD is apparently KNOWN around the US for its crabs) and I know what they look like. They really did a nice job of capturing the "essence of the crab" in this figure. :D But I think the lion will do fine without my vote. It may take a LB to beat him out in the contest. :)

From my point of view, it wouldn’t be an upset at all. The crab’s body is much, much better. It’s just that the mouth seems like such a glaring weakness.

Does anyone have a custom crab? I’d love to see the mouth in another color.

Our glorious Milky Way is a tiny, infinitesimal speck of sand in this vast, incomprehensible universe. And somewhere in that Milky Way is our own solar system, less than one billionth of that speck of sand that is the Milky Way. And then there is our planet Earth, one hundred trillionth of that one billionth of that one speck of sand. And on this planet Earth there is DEV-0, an insignificant blemish with a lifespan too short to measure when placed in infinite time.

And you are here, with them, as so many specks of sand.

Yeah, I think the crab is cooler, but it seems like there are many more fanatical Pirate Lion fans on the board than there are Crusty Crab fans. So if Crusty wins, I think it will be a major upset.

At least, Ghost Lion and White Leo will be majorly upset. :)

The lion still has the blown-dry look in the custom as he does in original coloration.

Wow, those custom painted figures are awesome. To be honest, I couldnt even tell what the crab thing was until looking at the painted figure. Much more detail. If we were voting on the painted figures, I would have went crab. But since we are not. Pirate Lion has my vote all the way. he's cool, he's king of the jungle, and he's a pirate to top it all off. The other guy is just a crab with a pincher.

I am really looking forward to this tournament by the way because I know absolutely nothing about BB, so this will be fun, and I will be voting solely by which figure I think is cooler looking and nothing to do with the story. I think a few of my muscle votes may have been a little biased even though I was not trying to.

Same here! This'll be interesting, as long as the Battle Beast guys post the snippets of the story and background of the characters pairing off... or at least the interesting ones.

BTW, how many of you vote before reading the replies (like me), and how many read the replies before deciding?

Its cool to see the impressions of people who aren't big BB fans. I won't be too disapointed if Lion loses. I will just have to shut myself away from the rest of humaity for a month or so and it will ony devastate my Easter. But that's cool. For the MUSCLE tourny I voted before looking at any of the posts.

Well, I'm not voting based on the better sculpt this time. I'm gonna vote for my favorite figure. I had 20 or so BattleBeast back in the day, and I played with them on special occasions cause they were too cool to be tossed around.

I love both Pirate Lion and Crusty Crab! Sadly the only pirate lion I've ever had was given to me and both his arms were broken. :D But Crusty Crab was the staple marauder of my attack force against the mammal threat! :) He had one major advantage! He had no neck, so in a fight with Romain Buffalo, Crusty could easily choke out Buffy for the win, whereas the worst Romain could do is go for the opposite arm.

Crusty for the win! But I wouldn't mind at all if Pirate Lion won.
