It's actually a good time to get into them. Both waves of series 2 are out and $7 for a 12 pack is a good price for loading up on them. Series 1 was pretty much gone when I got into them too. I found a bunch of S1 2 packs at a Walgreens about a month ago and bought everything they had.Wish I'd found out about these sooner, I bought a series 2 12-pack today and they're pretty good, but it looks like series 1 was better overall. They were all on "clearance" as well, or at least what passes for clearance at Wal-Mart. $7 for the 12 packs, $3.50 for a 5 pack. Perhaps I should go get more...

Regardless of how good they are, I still think they're over-pricey for bits of rubber less than an inch tall...

It;'s not a offer it will be until next argos book comes out the Truck is also in 2 for £30 but onlt the older one not both which makes it kinda pointless. Argos is the only place in UK you can buy 12 packs and get the special edition fuzzy figures 2 in each 12 pack and normally 1 of the Astro trash figures in each 12 pack.Ooh, that offer's still on? I'm in Southport tomorrow, might pop into Argos and see if I can get any.

I've invested some time and money into these. Overall, a very frustrating experience. Let me explain.
First of all, the fact that this is a Toys R Us exclusive sucks. Not only are you limited to their few stores, but you're also subject to their jacked up prices. Guaranteed, if these were at Walmart or Target or anywhere else, they'd be less expensive.
Second, being a new item -- with limited distribution, and limited information online -- there's no resource or reference guide to help you sort things out. And there is no established trade network. So, you're on your own as a collector.
But Toys R Us is promoting these decently. Lots of display space. Nice layout in the weekly ad. And, as of this week at least, all pack varieties are buy two get one free.
So, recently I finally sorted all my Trashies.
I have 77 figures of a supposed 166-figure set. (This does not include an additional 6 exclusive Trashies that come with the carrying case, the display case, and the truck. I'm just talking about the 166 figures pictured in the booklet.)
To get just these 77 figures, I had to buy so many packs that I accumulated 84 duplicates. Geez.
I can offer them here for trade -- and I am -- but according to the observations that I am about to explain, as things are, I can only reasonably expect to accquire 8 more *at best* for a total of 85.
I don't know how things are in Australia (where the Trash Pack originated), but here in the US, it looks like only 85 have been made available -- not 166 -- with none of them being truly any more or less scarce than the others.
I found this all out by trial and error. Translated: Spending too much money.
Let me share some things I have concluded from examining what I have purchased, as well as looking at what others have put on ebay, often emailing these sellers only to find out that they've encountered the same frustration.
Because we're all missing the same stuff!
Looking at the booklet you see images of 166 Trashies. They are grouped into 6 subsets. Looking closer, you see that each subset shows certain characters available in three different color versions. There is a key indicating which are "common," "rare," "ultra rare," and "special edition." The three versions of each character are not grouped together and there is no consistency to the rarity of a color. Green might be "common" for one character and "ultra rare" for another.
5 of 6 subsets have one character shown in three color varieties all labeled "special edition." Five characters times three colors equals fifteen figures of this sort. 10 of these 15 figures, you'll find, are the glow-in-the-dark Trashies exclusive to the 12-packs. They are always prominently displayed in the packaging, and always in the same pairs, so, buy 5 of the 12-packs and there you go, you have all five of the blue and all 5 of the green glow-in-the-dark Trashies. But what about the other 5? The yellow ones?
Beats me. But one thing is obvious; they are not at Toys R Us at all.
Similarly, notice the subset of 10 called the Bin-Fections. These are shown to be available in both blue and yellow, and all are "ultra rare." They do not come visibly displayed in any package type, so you have to pull them at random. Yet, you buy enough packs, you'll come across all 5 of the blue ones easily. In fact, when you do the math, you'll see that you are just as likely to pull these "ultra rare" Trashies as you are any of the other ones labeled "common." That's cool, I guess, at least I got all the blue ones. So what about the 5 yellow Bin-Fections?
Beats me. Seems they simply just aren't at Toys R Us.
We'll never know for sure what's intentional and what's possibly some kind of error, but in all, these are the issues I have found with the Trash Pack and their exclusive TRU release:
1. The 5 yellow glow-in-the-dark figures are just not at TRU.
2. The 5 yellow Bin-Fections are just not at TRU.
3. A total of 12 characters (at least one from every subset) are just not to be found at TRU.
4. These missing characters are: Mouldy Milk, Garbage Egg, Sicken Chicken, Off Cheese, Scummy Screen, Loo Paper, Crud Can, Rott Box, Mucky Maggot, Bin Scab Beetle, Garbage Gull, and Rankenstein. (This is 12 characters times 3 colors each = an additional 36 figures missing.)
5. That leaves only 40 characters that have been made available for a blind random pull in the TRU retail packs. (This excludes not only the 6 exclusive characters that are not listed in the booklet, but also the 5 glow-in-the-dark characters because they are always visible in the packs for selecting and never subject to random pulls.)
6. For most characters, there is absolutely no quantitative distinction between "common" and "rare" color versions. In other words, you are as likely to get one as the other.
7. The 5 blue "ultra rare" Bin-Fections are just as common as any of the other 35 characters when you consider the others as only a single color version. (Scarcity only increases from the perspective that they were only produced in two colors instead of three. Still, the liklihood of pulling any given "ultra rare" Bin-Fection in any given color is the same as pulling any given Bin-Sect, etc, in any given color.)
8. The 10 color versions of the remaining 35 characters that are actually available in TRU retail packs that are marked "ultra rare" must really truly be rare IF THEY ARE AVAILABLE AT ALL. (No "odds" have been published for this release, but I have never pulled one, met anyone who has, or even seen a single one on ebay.)
9. Of the other 25 (of 35 known to be available) that have no "ultra rare" version shown in the booklet, almost all still have one "rare" color version that must be just as scarce IF AVAILABLE AT ALL. (In other words, "rare" has no real distinction here. With some characters, the "rare" color is as common as the "common," and with other characters, the "rare" is as uncommon as "ultra rare" -- IF THE EXIST AT ALL)
10. Of the characters that you can actually find at TRU, 6 of them have the color form that you can never find labeled as "common" in the booklet! These are Slop Corn, Rotten Apple, Grott Dog, Foul Nugget, Noxious Bee, and Gross Rover. The color that you cannot find is the "common" purple, whereas the "ultra rare" orange is just as common as the "common" yellow.
11. The breakdown actually looks like this: Of three colors, two are actually equally common. Sometimes one of the two is called "rare" so you think you found something special. The third one is truly very rare or perhaps non-existent. The rarity distinction in the booklet is irrelevant to which color you will actually not be able to find. The fact is -- after buying over 150 Trashies -- I have yet to collect three color versions of even a single character, ANY CHARACTER, regardless of the rarity distictions given in the booklet.
12. The conclusion that I have come to is this: Of what is currently available at Toys R Us retail -- nationwide -- there will always be one and exactly one color form missing of EVERY CHARACTER in addition to the 12 afformentioned characters that are not to be found in any of their 3 color forms.
13. This means that of the 166 figures shown in the booklet, only 85 are available within the TRU retail packs! (35 characters X2 colors + 5 glow-in-the-dark X2 colors + 5 Bin-Fections X1 color = 85)
14. Interestingly, 166 minus 85 equals 81. Damn near half.
15. My question for Moose and Toys R Us is: Why are you selling us only HALF of what you're telling us is available?
I have a couple ideas. Most likely, when the current stock gets low -- all bought up by people eagerly spending money trying to find these missing Trashies -- then they'll send out another wave of packs with some different figures. Anyone just starting to collect then will be in the same situation, only waiting for the return of the first wave.
If you're just starting out: Beware. The scarcity listings in the booklet are misleading and the about half the set is currently unavailable.
If you are just starting out, and my theory is correct, just wait until some different ones start showing up in the packs, then we can trade. After all, I have 84 duplicates, and so many of them are ohhhh so "rare" and "ultra rare." You know you want 'em.
:
Here are the results of my series 3 wave 1 & 2 research:
Wave 1

Wave 2

Some characters won't make an appearance until wave 2. They are Yuck Ketchup, Sticky Pop, Trash Iron, Foul Fish Bowl, Barf B Q, Trashantula, Ugly Bed Bug, Icky Tick, Slobseter, Shabby Shark, Bin Brute and Gas Ghost. Also, the gray special edition color change Trashies won't be available until wave 2.
I don't think I'll buy many packs until wave 2 is released.

I was trying to ID the figures last night, I am pretty sure virtually all of them are just normal figures you could get in packets, aside maybe a couple in the far right of the case (can anyone spot anything different at all?) I also have all those Crazy Bone figures up for swap trade for Trash Pack figures if anyone fancies some trades.
Cheers

The figures just look like regular Trash Pack, albeit some of them are a little harder to get. However that display case is brilliant and definitely the better part of the deal.
hhmm, thats what I thought, the figures had been glued on as well, so who ever had those will have glue residue all over the bottom of them. I was suprised and lucky they didn't want the case, which had been the main thing I was after. They still have a complete one in my local toy shop, but they have said they will not be getting rid of it and will continue to use it ontop of the stand, no matter what series is out. I like to collect any point of sale stuff for things I like, so will be trying to pick up empty boxes/packaging etc as well.

Yeah, Gunk Pumpkin is series 3 (blue cans) and the trading cards all feature series 3. They sell 8 packs of cards that come with a mystery Trashie, which I assume is a series 3 but I could be wrong. There are also packs of cards that come with one of 3 collector's tins. Those come with a dice Trashie to use in gameplay.Does anyone know what guys come with the cards they are now selling at Toys R Us? I'm looking for Gunk Pumpkin but seems like he is only in Series 3 packs? or is it a chance that Series 3 comes in those card packs too?
Series 3 and the cards have just been released in the US. So far TRU is the only place that has them, They haven't shown up at Target or Wal-mart yet.
