I bet the Chargers are glad the Colts let the Titans win last week. Man, do they suck.

Yes because the Browns went sooo far.

The Browns, Titans, and Colts can all enjoy the rest of the playoffs from their couches.

I was referring to the Titans sucking in that quote not the Chargers or Colts.

I was just being a jerk =P.

I'll go with Giants for the Superbowl but Pats will probably win.

I want the Steelers to win it next year. Not so sure how the Colts will be = /.

I think it would be nice to see Eli Manning win a SB Ring the year after his older brother did. Maybe then people will stop with comparing the two. If you watched any Giants games you heard it all year, "Can Eli live in Peytons shadow?", "How does Eli deal with being Peyton Mannings younger brother?", "Can Eli live up to the legacy that he has before him?".

Jaysus, shut the hell up already. He's his own man, quit with the comparisons.

Patriots, NFL Deny New Spying Allegation

PHOENIX (AP) - A member of the New England Patriots' video staff taped the St. Louis Rams' last walkthrough before the 2002 Super Bowl, a Boston newspaper reported Saturday. The NFL, however, said it was satisfied this was not another Spygate.

"We were aware of the rumor months ago and looked into it. There was no evidence of it on the tapes or in the notes produced by the Patriots, and the Patriots told us it was not true," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told The Associated Press.

Citing an unidentified source, the Boston Herald reported that a Patriots employee recorded the Rams' walkthrough at the Superdome in the New Orleans a day before the Super Bowl. New England beat the heavily favored Rams 20-17 its first NFL title.

The Herald reported that a source close to the Patriots in the 2001 season said the team held a walkthrough at the Superdome in New Orleans before the game on Feb. 3, 2002. After the Patriots took a team picture, a member of their video department stayed inside the stadium and taped the Rams' session.

It was not known whether the cameraman was told by the Patriots to film the practice or what he did with the tape, the Herald said. The Rams were two-touchdown favorites, but lost on Adam Vinatieri's last- second field goal.

"The suggestion that the New England Patriots recorded the St. Louis Rams' walkthrough on the day before Super Bowl XXXVI is absolutely false. Any suggestion to the contrary is untrue," Patriots spokesman Stacey James told the AP.

Rams spokesman Rick Smith, reading a statement from team president John Shaw, said, "At this point, we have no comment."

The unbeaten Patriots will try to win their fourth Super Bowl in seven seasons Sunday when they play the New York Giants.

Early this season, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell fined New England coach Bill Belichick $500,000 and docked the team $250,000 and a first-round draft pick after the Spygate scandal. The Patriots were accused of videotaping New York Jets defensive coaches as they signaled to players.

New England did not have a walkthrough Saturday. The Giants held one at the Arizona Cardinals' practice facility.

A walkthrough is done without pads or helmets, giving teams a chance to practice their formations.

Goodell spent much of his state of the game address Friday talking about that episode. He said he did not think the Patriots used such tapes to win previous titles.

"There was no indication that it benefited them in any of the Super Bowl victories," he said.

Goodell also defended his decision to destroy notes and videotapes linked to the Spygate, saying "there was no purpose for them."

Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa., who sent Goodell a letter asking for explanation, said Goodell's response "didn't make any sense at all."

:bunny:

Upsetting. And the NFL's/Goodell's response even worse.

To me, the Patriots will forever be labled as cheaters. I dont care how well they did this year, something shady happened and they got away with it scott free. Like I had said before, Belichick is the type of person who doesnt care about anything but winning and who will do anything to win. I wouldnt put it past him to cheat in some way, or in any way, if he can get away with it. It doesnt even matter to me if they win or lose tomorrow, they still did what they did and that will forever taint their image to me. Now with all this other info coming to light, it just makes it worse. And the way the NFL is handling it is all to reminiscent of how the government swept the whole Halliburton thing under the rug when people started asking questions. It's like, "Some sh!t went down but if we pretend it didnt happen it will just go away." I think Goodell is doing everything he can to get people to forget about what happened as a way to save face. Cuz all he needs is for the NFL to start being criticized and scrutinized the way MLB is.

Heh. I almost forgot that today is the Super Bowl, despite the blizzard of coupons for Bowl-themed foods.

I'll be at the mall.

At this point, as far as opening a big ass can off worms that the NFL would never be able to close, I think Goodell did a "good" job. I don't think he was trying to save his own "face," I think he was trying to save the face of the NFL. Like you said, look at what a mess MLB has become. I'd hate to see that happen to the NFL and I'm sure Goodell is thinking the same, "I'll lie or destroy evidence for the greater good of the NFL and the sport." That's an easy rationalization.

If it turns out that the Pats truly do have a historical pattern of using video and audio to cheat and win and uses such means to win their 3 superbowls, all by a margin of 3 points, well, the NFL might just be better off if no one knows about it.

:bunny:

As far as the congress getting involved, as much as I've lost faith in Goodell -- handing out a slap on the wrist penalty and literally destroying all the evidence (wtf?) -- I don't think it's congress' place to get involved.

Tony Romo singing along to Sweet Child of Mine on stage, then Jessica Simpson trying to hit some high notes (Damn she's cute! and hot :o) I think I'd rather have her than a super bowl ring too

Romo - sweet child o'mine

An evil, evil thought just occurred to me... You know what could very, very easily happen?

The Pats could go undefeated ALL season... in the playoff... and LOSE in the Super Bowl.

That, my friends, would be hysterical.

:p

:)

(And as a side note, Bill Belichick's behavior at the end of the game -- leaving his team behind and walking off the field with 2 seconds left in the game -- is one of the reasons I don't care for him and the Pats.)

Must say that I'm very surprised. The Pats weren't very explosive in the game, and Brady kept getting sacked!

I'm kinda bummed to be honest. I have no favorite football team, but I would've liked to see the Pats finish their pursuit of perfection.

I couldnt agree more. There is a thing that is very lacking with the pats and their leaders and its called "honor". Win at any cost should be their motto.

Well here is to a losing season. CHEERS!!!

Well, it looks like the Tom Brady robot finally broke down. I mean what the crap was that? Like the Patriots or not, ya gotta admit that looked like a completely different qb in there today. Sad end to the season, would've been cool indeed to see history made.

In other news, it's awesome to be a Manning.

I have never liked Eli after the way he snubbed Sandiego back in the draft, and I was even more pissed off that he won the MVP...yeah he directed a 4tth quarter drive to win...but the Giants defense terrorized the Pats all agme...they were the MVP, they tore up Brady and co. :)

I thought for sure that Plaxico would get the MVP. Go Plax... former Steeler I might add. He didnt get a chance to beat the Pats with the Steelers, its nice to see him beat them with Giants.

I thought that too, but in the end, of the 8 passes thrown to him he only caught 2, one was obviously a huge one!! Don't get me wrong Plax is an awesome receiver, he is great the way he battled injuries all year and came up clutch in the end, I definately would have rather had him get it then Eli.

I personally think they gave it to him so he could stand next to his brother and say, "Yeah, I'm a Super Bowl MVP too." Two Mannings in two years. Thats why. Either way, I'd rather see him get it than someone like Brady.

Well, it looks like the Tom Brady robot finally broke down. I mean what the crap was that? Like the Patriots or not, ya gotta admit that looked like a completely different qb in there today.

That just goes to show you what plenty of time in the pocket can do for a quarterback. All season long, except against the Eagles, Ravens, and Giants, Brady had all the time in the world to look for the open receiver and make beautiful passes. The games where the defense was able to pressure Brady -- Eagles, Ravens, Giants -- he looked like a normal, inconsistent QB. The Giants were even getting pressure sending 4 sometimes!

However, the Giants were able to do what the Eagles and Ravens couldn't do, and that is control the end of the game.

Anyhow, I was watching Tom Copeland and Eli that entire last drive, and both of them, considering the circumstances and the fact that it was both their first Super Bowl, were calm and focused on what they wanted to do. I could believe how calm Copeland was on the sidelines!

While I think the Giants defense pretty much won the "war" by stopping the Pats offense, it really was the last drive by Eli and the Giants offense that won the decisive "battle". That broken scramble play where Eli looked sacked for sure only to escape and fire it down field will go down in history! Eli didn't fade, he didn't choke, he didn't panic -- that was some big time play, so I think he is justified in getting MVP... even though I don't like how he and his father handled the SD debacle either.

 Damn you Soups I thought for sure you would side with me on this one. ;)

That was an amazing play for sure!! I couldn't believe how he got out of that, I guess being lanky in stature had its positive this time for Eli.

About the defense though, I was just so dissapointed how many times the Giants made it into the Pats territory and looked like they were going to get something only to be shut down...the defense however rocked all night long accept when they decided to play it safe in the last quarter where Brady & co. took it all the way down to score. Other than that the Pats had nothing against the Giants all night....and neither did Eli and his crew against the Pats "D" until the fourth quarter....I'll tell you what though...had the Pats won, Welker would have been the MVP for sure!! That cat was awesome!! B)

Pshtt. Are you kidding me? Remember his "bad" ankle...

Yes, TBG, Welker was unstoppable! (How about when Brady ripped into him that one time for running the wrong route though! )

You know, I've very curious to see what happens to the Pats this off season. In many, many ways the ending of this 18-1 has to be nearly impossible to deal with. I remember when the Pats beat my Eagles by 3 points in the Super Bowl. Man, I was shell-shocked for a week! I can't image the inner turmoil the Pats and Pats fans are experiencing!

Hang in there Meaty!
