[Reccoom Kaboom]

for my third piece, I decided to try a battle beast mask. Problem was, the only masks I had left were female. So I had to find a beast that could not only be recogniseable from face alone, but also work as she-she. I think "night-owl chick" turned out very well.

every time i try to load your pic wrath1104 it stops shy. can't seem to get past the points of the horns. could you shrink it down to like 800x600 and post it again? hopefully it won't lose too much detail.

This month has been crazy, but I wanted to enter something at least. It's a slow day at work, so I took a half hour and cranked out this sketch. Phew!

Whelp, I've been trying to get someone to photograph my costume for the whole day now. And I gave up and took the damn photos myself. Here's a few different ones and a grossly blurry one of my mirror because I was having a ton of trouble angling the camera to show all the costume without being able to see the screen. How do all those people on myspace do it?

MIMP #72 (Gargoyle), in two tones, made entirely from various kinds and colours of sticky tape. Actually, I lie, there's 4 pages of a newspaper in there too, one on the head to give shape to the crest, and the other three in the wings to give shape to the ribs. And a little gladwrap to protect my noggin from when I was wrapping my head in tape. And the torso is tied shut at the sides with some green ribbon. Other than that it's all tape.

Edit; added a compilation of photos showing the wings off a bit better.

Reccoom - sorry, didn't see your question 'til just now, but I've enjoyed making things from sticky tape since I was a little one. There wasn't anything I couldn't fix or make from tape Not that anything broke that couldn't be fixed with tape anyway... but that's beside the point.

I used to include a lot more other things in my creations though, the cylinders from inside loo rolls, newspaper, boxes, all kinds of junk. I realised that I could make big flat sheets of tape and use them like cloth, and I could make clothing from it. It's easier to tailor tape than cloth because everything can be done instantly (and you can create the clothing around your body so you don't even need to take measurements), only problem is that it's kind of difficult to add buttons or zips to something made from tape. I generally keep my creations to things that don't need fastenings. Jackets, hats, masks, wallets, that kind of stuff.

I later discovered my idea wasn't so original as I had thought, as there are people on the internet who make all kinds of stuff from tape. But I think I might be the only one who made a mimp costume from it so far
