my interest in these has cooled of a might since i've started making knives. but i really like the absorbing man and bulldozer figs. doom is cool, but i just can't get horny for figures with capes. either they make the cape out of cloth and it looks lame, or they make it out of rubber and it looks lame and can end up getting in the way of play. either way you're effed.

what's the deal with the iron man figure? the only difference i can see is the hands and it now comes with a stand. what am i missing?

I'm not sure what you mean. As far as I recall, when they released packaged images of 2010 wave 2 they didn't include Extremis Iron Man in the first release. So that's why he is posted alone. :woot: He is an entirely new sculpt though... if that's what you meant.

My complaints with the SW set is that Bulldozer's face looks squished into his helmet. They reused the wave 3 Thing mold. :D I'd have much preferred a classic barrel chested Thing for sure. Didn't care much for the Wave 3 one. At least he got new legs and feet. I'm also sad to see they used the old female body for Storm. And finally, I think NightCrawler's fingers look too small...and I think I hate the Black Spidey body type.

First impressions though. I'm very interested in why we have not gotten SW wave 3 in stock yet. :D I want my blasted Ultron and Hawkeye!

oh man. the differences between the two iron man figs are minute. i didn't even seen them at first. still, i have six iron man figures right now. i don't see anything too compelling about this one. i may have to give him a skip. if i do end up buying him, it'll be so my nephew has one he can play with when he comes over. :D

i hear you on the ultron and hawkeye figs. i never realized how cool hawkeye truly was until i played with his handful counterpart. easily one of my faves from that line. as for ultron, killer robot, nuff said.

i heard dark chocolate is good for you, so i'm eating a lot of it right now. :woot:

Toyfair UK has 2010 MU figs on display. Including an Aim Beekepper, Colossus, Arch-Angel, and Juggs, possibly a War-Machine too. Looked like a black extremis Iron Man. But the only photo I've seen sucks so bad, that I refuse to post it. :D

But I will post a link. ^_^ http://www.sirsteves...mp;d=1264794526

Not only is it the worst Picture, but the display itself looks to have been set up by a 7 year old. :( That or someones Mom.

Almost seems like it was pulled from a moving video as someone was panning across the room. I can't see how a picture could turn out that bad if you were actually trying to snap a shot of these.

My local Wal-Crap finally figured out that they would be a ton more cool if they started carrying MU. Well, was I ever surprised this past weekend. They have 4 pegs devoted now (Hey, it's a start) and they are rehashing waves 1 & 2. I hope they get current soon cuz I would love to be able to hunt locally for my next Vision fig and his phasing variant!!! What was real surprising though is they had wave 3 (I believe) Secret Wars!! They had Thor & Enchantress, Ultron & Mr. Fantastic, Piledriver & Hawkeye, and several of the more typical packs. I was disappointed that Nightcrawler wasn't there. I gotta tell you all, I was not impressed with any of them and bought not one of them. I was very hopeful for Thor and Hawkeye. Their paint apps were terrible and minimal compared with the marketing shots I have seen for them. I was really flustered after examining Thor. I really thought he'd turn out better. Are they planning a single card fig for him? The marketing shots I saw of him looked like he had a shiny finish. The SW fig was matte. I actually left the store very happy though. They had also started stocking XMO:W (this Wal-Crap had not been in the XMO:W game until now......can you believe that?) and I snagged 2 Colossus figgies!!! I think he is a very well done figure.

try not to be too shocked at the overall poor quality of the secret wars figures. they've been humdrum at best since the get go. the most annoying thing is digging through six (6!) different packs to find the "best" one. which still turns out to be a very poor quality item. other than green hulk(new face), thunderball and cyclops all of the secret wars figs have been nearly un-purchasable. magneto gets an honorable mention because he's barely above the bottom of the barrel. still, being the most handsome man at the world's ugliest man convention isn't saying much.

That is very weird. It's been months I think since the Colossus wave of XM:O hit my area. I've continually heard mixed reviews of SW wave 3 so far. And really, considering the past 2 waves, I'm not surprised. I'll be swinging by Wal-Mart on the way home from work every Wednesday morning every week till I find them though. I want to get first dibs on the new stock so I can pick the best ones.

Never seen that damn XMO Colossus, not even Iceman for that matter, but the line didn't get many restocks past the movie waves around here, so that wasn't a surprise.

There is going to be a single-packed Thor and it looks infinitely better detailed than the Secret Wars version, but there's plenty of room to screw it up too.

The Colossus is an exceptional figure in what I think is an average line. To me, Colossus, Ice Man, and Deadpool (in full costume) were the only figs worth the inflated price they place on these. The classic looking Wolvie (yellow & brown suit) was pretty good too although his claws are one solid mold. I hate that but they got it right in the SW 2 pack where they are individual blades. XMO:W also has some 2 packs and it is worth mentioning because of the Blob/Sabretooth set. Blob is big and I bet fun to crush other guys with when playing. But the Sabretooth is a spectacular rendition. His countenance and snarl are spot on. His mane, suit, and claws are all true to character. BUUUTTTT, take one look at Sabertooth's single carded figs from the line and I think you would agree that they tare much lesser creations definitely not worth that whopping price they place on it.
Thank God Thor has a 2nd chance. Cuz the 1st is a total whiff.

program over? what the deuce? so what was the point of it all? something they decided wasn't worth their time and effort? i guess not enough people bothered with it in relation to the number of figures sold. too bad, they could have done some cool promotions through that site. if someone ended up getting every freakin' figure they could have received an offer for a special edition of a particular character. hopefully not iron man or wolverine. ;)

One team complete and one team gets started?

I'm going with Dr. Strange to complete The Order and somebody from Gaurdians of the Galaxy (Rocket Racoon B) URS)

I've started to see those Spider-Man figures popping up, are they a good fit with with the MU. I'm really hoping to find a Venom.

Did Nic Cage kill the Ghost Rider character I'd expect to see him in the first year of a marvel toyine.

I have to be honest. I have been considering dropping this line lately. I was concerned with figure quality, the continued overuse of body types, and repaints of the same characters. But the shots of this wave gave me a further boost. B) Colossus just looks amazing! And I can't see how Juggernaut won't be completely 100% awesome! He just looks sick man! I'd happily buy variants of this guy.

Man! I wouldn't know what to do with myself if they released a Rocket Raccoon figure. :) I'd probably write a letter of appreciation. B)

I saw the Spider-Man toys last week, and they looked like nice toys, but was unimpressed with them as collectibles. I just don't like the lack of leg articulation on these things. I didn't even like the Venom.

And yes....Cage killed Ghost Rider. But so did the director, and every other person who had anything to do with the production of that film. ;)

I've seen the new Spider-Man toyline but no Venom so I didn't take a close look, if they don't have good articulation I can wait for a better Venom.

It sucks about the waning enthusiasm because I know I wasn't going to get carried away, only going to buy the characters I really like, that didn't last long.
So now I have most of the figures already released and an upcoming wave that isn't so hot.

If only Seceret Wars quality control was better because they are the most kick ass part of the line. From the choice of characters to the choice of colors. All pretty awesome. But applications are so so.

Man growing up in the 90's it was all about X-Men and Ghost Rider (although I was never really into Ghost Rider).

You know, it's funny how your habits change from when you were a kid to when you are a collector. I remember looking through all the toys, and saying to myself, "This character sucks! Who would buy that!" then I would only pick the figures I really thought were awesome!
Now I find myself buying all of them. Even the characters that are peg warmers. But the mentality has changed. I know why I buy them. Variety. It's cool to have more characters in your collection. But I also find that I mostly play around with the ones I think are the best.

It's a wonder why 20 years later the most popular action figures are mostly found in extremely played with condition, and the poopy characters are still near mint.

And I have to agree, the early 90's Toybiz Marvel figs were some of the best action figures ever! They surprisingly had a great variety as well.

Come on StarJammers! :good:

The first thing that came to mind when I read that URS was the original secret wars toys and that horrid Kang figure. You can still find a ton of him MOC on eBay for under 10.00

What stands out of the expected wave is there are not 2 new versions of Iron man in it, have they broken from their insanely small variations of a character to get people to shell out 8 more bucks for a piece of crap? When I look at juggernaut I want to buy it and I think I wonder how much work they had to do to the hulk sculpt to get a juggernaut out of it, at least I can pretend it is not that similar to the three other versions of the hulk.... I mean..um similar sculpt I have. At least for colossus they just had to change him from wolverine packaging to marvel universe packaging.

Best,
Chris
