I will always place the mission first.
I will never accept defeat.
I will never quit.

I was a visual art teacher from 1995-2002 (7 years) in North Kansas City, MO.

I was a "stay-at-home" father from 2002-2006 (4 years) and continue to be available at home for my 2 sons. While I was a "stay-at-home" father I mastered my art, networked to develop my business, and set goals for after my sons were both in school all day.

I have been a professional artist running my business out of my home from 2005-present "TGB CUSTOMS." I have a sculpting/paint studio & a molding/casting studio in my home. I do prototyping for independent toy designers & promotional companies. I do commissioned & charity sculptures also. I volunteer at my son's school regularly.

I wouldn't trade my occupational history for anything...making a difference in my son's lives and other people/children's lives is ULTRA IMPORTANT to me and it is worth way more than makin' tons of $$$. :p :(

Perks for working at Target !
I got this triangular Transformers figure display sign today. It's HUGE ! It has batteries inside,so the Autobot symbols' eyes light up. It's still in awesome shape, and I love it !

I got this TF movie sign from Target also. A ton of people wanted it,but I knew the guy who worked/managed the electronics department even before I started working there,so he gave it to me!
It measures 24x36,and the TF logo at the bottom 'pops out' 3-D style.

I am a Systems Operator in the Facilities and Engineering Dept. for the University of Utah Hospital, specifically the "John A. Moran Eye Center". Which pretty much means My super and I take care of the building, all the electrical, plumbing, mechanical, HVAC...yada yada yada....it really means that I get yelled at by the Surgeons if the operating rooms aren't cold enough. But....it has 401k and benefits that can't be beat, as well as paying for half of my wife and I's tuition at the University of Utah...so I aint complaining.

Well Crap! Thanks Soupie, I couldn't locate this thing for nothing. :( Looks like I'm obligated to tell everyone now. :p

Well here it is........I'm an Astronaut! That's right! You would be surprised how low Russia's standards for Space Pilots are these days. The guy asked me 4 questions, mostly about my my dead cat, and then we played Jeopardy on his Desktop PC, and then he called me back 2 days later! I guess monkeys get expensive to ship all the time.

O.k. so that was a lame joke. I'm now a part time Loader for UPS! The UNIVERSAL POSTER SUPREME IS NOW WHAT I AM TO BE CALLED!!!! MUWUHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Na, I won't go that far, but you guys better be nice to me, cause If your not, and I see your name on a box I'm loading!! .....I'll just load it correctly and efficiently so that I don't lose my job. :p But that doesn't mean I can't "ACCIDENTALLY" Mis load it on the wrong truck! And you know what that means! It will take TWICE as long for you to get your stuff, and you will probably get a shipping refund.

Yesterday was Orientation, and we actually have to sit through about a week of it, but we are supposed to get to work by tonight I believe. They have an awesome benefits package (Health, Union, Company discounts, etc.) , and it's almost like a scene from Mad Max in Thunderdome in the loading Hub. I'll be doing Ground HUB Packages. What's great is even though it's part time, they will pay you time and a half if your shift goes overtime. Which should happen regularly. ;) I'll be eligible for about 3 raises before the end of the year, then 1 per year I work there, not counting promotions.

We Learned about Hazmats! ;)

I have been working at ARCH DOORS & MOULDINGS for 5 years now... not the most exciting work, but it pays the bills...

I make all the Radius and lineal mouldings (casing, base, crown...), along with arching the top or the doors themselves.

In my free time after work, I can build anything my heart desires... mostly displays tho... <_<

Jug band manager. <_<

Actually, i'm mostly a stay-at-home artist. My wife has a pretty sweet career as a practice manager for a rather large veterinary clinic, so i tend to just kick around here, keep up the housework, and work on various art projects. I've maintained a wide variety of jobs in various fields, all pretty short-lived due to my interest dying out so quickly. But right now we're kinda thinkin' about doing the whole kid thing, so it's looking like stay-at-home artist will pretty much just segue into stay-at-home dad, which works for me.

this thread is awesome. I have been wondering for like 6 months what everyone does for a job. very interesting to read.

soooo, i am a medical records technician for senior citizen homes and such places in NJ. i am in charge of 1500 old people. its interesting, kinda sad at times.

p.s. stay at home dad/artist sounds like the best job in the world. i wish i could find a laser wife that would let me do that.

I start at my new job tomorrow at Michaels craft store.

I had been doing landscaping for a number of years and when my wife and I bought our house, I found a new place to work so I didnt have to commute every day. I found a place close to home, making a little more than I had at my last place of enmployment and for a while everything was awesome. Then they had me start working a little bit of overtime here and there which was fine with me, more moolah! But then, here and there turned into 20-30 hours of overtime a week. Now those of you who have had labor intensive construction type jobs know that 40 hours a week can wear a person out, lemme tell you, a 70 hour week will kill.

Because of the overtime, my wife and I barely saw each other as she is the type of person who likes to go to bed at 9:30-10:00 if she can. It also turned the usually fun aspects of trying to make a baby, into something that was more of a chore. Thats when we could even find the time!

The friday morning before Memorial Day weekend I was greeted at work with the information that I had to come in on Saturday. HAD TO. I was told the day before. I had no time to change the plans that I had already made for that weekend and I was totally pissed that they didnt tell me sooner.

So that day, Friday, I was sent out to this job and was supposed to meet my boss at 8:00 for him to show myself and one other guy what to do. We waited and waited for him. For an hour and a half. He showed up at 9:30 to show us what he wanted done. He basically wasted an hour and a half of mine and the other guys time. So he starts showing us what he needs done. Long story short, the work he wanted done was way more than 2 guys could handle. Finally, he leaves and we get to work. By 2:30 we realize that we arent going to get everything done by 6:00 which is when we were supposed to be done. So I call my boss and he says dont come home till its done. So we said "fnck it" and started working very half-assed. We finished by 5:30 and man did we do some shoddy work. I didnt care, I wanted to go home and on top of that I was furious that he would send 2 guys to do what should have taken 3 guys an entire day to do (correctly).

Anyway, we get back at 6:30 (Memorial Day traffic on the parkway easy in Pittsburgh is horrible) and the other guy leaves. As I go to punch out my boss pulls me aside and tells me that he needs me to go mow 2 lawns and then deliver 3 seperate loads of bark to customers. At that point I had just worked an 11 and 1/2 hour day. On top of that, there were other workers who had already left who could have done one of those two things they asked me to do.

Cut to the quick, I quit. I walked out and told him I wouldnt be back. It was at that moment that I realized that I cant do this kind of work for the rest of my life.

So tomorrow I start at Michaels and have been in contact with Slippery Rock University to find out what it will take to get into their PREE (Parks, Recreational and Enviromental Education) program.

I'mma be a park ranger! <_<

Hopefully soon though I can be a part time worker/part time stay at home dad. Honestly, thats the only thing I want to do right now is raise children. Everything else I do is really just steps taken so that I can do that.

The designs I have seen for the City Creek deal look very impressive. That is pretty neat that you will be able to be in the middle of that. I heard it had a $1.5 billion price tag :(
