I didn't want to started a new thread since this one already has some great information in it, and since the title indicated LB as well it seemed to fit.

I was just going through and comparing my weapons and noticed a difference in the number stamp for two authentic Rainbow Sam lasers that I have. Anyone know anything about this? Based on all other comparisons I'm confident that neither is a reproduction. Were the numbers stamped differently for the US/Japan releases of the lower 12 LBs? This is my assumption but it's pure speculation.

Had the exact same thing a couple off days ago while I was packing up a complete Rainbow Samu figure who was about to get transfered. Its a genuine weapon and it might have been the one that came with the Rainbow Samu missing white eye variant, so in case you do have that figure and that's the gun that came with it it might explain a lot. Looking at all the other weapons amongst the LB its nothing that's occured more and since the missing white eye Rainbow Samu is the only 'accepted' variant amongst the LB it might close the story.

Already packed mine up but I still have it here so I guess I'll take it out and trade it for a normal stamped one because this might just have been the info I needed to get these thoughts about it clearified.

Looks like there are quite a few mold differences - were the international Lasers manfactured in the same place as the japanese lasers? I would have expected the # to be in the same place at least!

So far this issue is only concerning the Rainbow Sam figure and its only the number which is located at a different position. For now we can only guess what the reason for that might be, broken mold (?) different factory. It feel it might have something to do with the missing white eye 'variant' of this figure because its the only clearly spread LB figure with something similar like the unpainted Tusks Walrus and the unpainted Teeth Mouse. If Bacham is able to confirm or to reject a possible connection with the missing white variation we might be able to get a step closer.

Of the two lasers I have one of them came from Saleen with the Rainbow Sam standard version I have, and the other I got on eBay a while back paired with Blue Eagle. Not sure which was which, but I can't confirm any connection to the Rainbow Sam variant.

All the low end LBs had variants (large number vs small number).  I actually started a thread about this 7ish years ago (CRIPES how the time has flown!).  It might have been in the price guide thread so it is probably long gone by now.  I used to have access to enter stuff in the guide and Im pretty sure I loaded up pictures of them all if you are interested in seeing more.  Took me a while but I was able to collect one of each.

Thanks for the clarification, I had speculated that this might be the case as I also have a Fly Sailor gun with the larger numbers. Were you ever able to determine specifics on the origins? (e.g. US releases vs. Japanese releases)

Oh and nice to see you around! I think I actually found your thread too during my recent spelunking through the BB/LB forums archive (literally started at the back and worked my way forward). You were all over this place back in the day; I can only imagine what your collection looks like (nevermind, just now saw the sig link  :notme:  )
